Yes, I believe in "past life regression" and I also believe in reincarnation. Many times our fears and abilities stem from a previous life and when we understand that the root cause of some problem could be from a past life, it can put your feet on the path to help.

About 25 years ago, I was thinking of having a past life regression done so I went to a licensed hypnotherapist for a few hypnotic sessions. We discovered that when I went into a hypnotic state and recalled some experiences from my present life childhood, I concentrated on all of the negative aspects of the particular events. The hypnotherapist decided that I was NOT a good candidate for past life regression since I did dwell on the negative and it was difficult for me to shake the "bad images" long after I was out of the hypnotic state.

A good fiend of mine was "hypnotically regressed" by someone
who didn't know what they were doing and it led to a lifetime of misery and many suicide attempts for her.

Having said all of this, I still believe that hypnosis is wonderful. By using hypnosis techniques that are easily learned, you can train yourself to completely relax and revitalize yourself. BUT...please make sure that the person instructing you is a LICENSED hypnotist and/or a qualified therapist.

Not everyone who is regressed to a past life turns out to be a famous person like Napoleon or Cleopatra, of course, but the lifetime(s) examined are always a clue to present day behavior.

On the light side, try to rent an Albert Brooks movie (with Meryl Streep as his love interest!) called "Defending Your Life" made in 1991. For some reason, that film really "speaks" to me.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

You should have a look around near-death.com:
http://www.near-death.com/reincarnation.html for lots of good information on reincarnation. You can join the Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_sensible_reincarnationist too, if you want to talk to fellow Reincarnationists like us.

My past life memories were born with me so personally I'm skeptical about regressions, which could so easily be orchestrated by the person doing the regression. Dreams and self-regression are much better. A good book on the subject is "The Idiot's Guide to Past-Life Regression" which covers everything on the subject.

Evidence is sketchy at best: there has been field research done and a good deal of study and analysis performed, but there is nothing definitive. What is interesting is how many people who "regress" recall having been a famous person (indeed, how many recall having been the SAME famous person), and how few recall having been a peasant.

Christians reject reincarnation for two main reasons. The first is because the Bible does not teach it, and in fact makes it clear that when we die we don't return to earth again but enter eternity—either with God in heaven or apart from God forever. The Bible says, "Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

The second reason Christians reject reincarnation is because Christ has paid the full penalty for our sins—totally and completely. He did this by His death on the cross for us. You say you hope to become perfect some day in another life—but Jesus has already made us perfect in God's eyes, by taking away all our sins! The Bible says, "But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 6:11).

Think of it: Every sin you have ever committed can be completely cleansed, if you will turn to Christ in repentance and faith! Don't be deceived by a false hope, but put your faith and hope in Christ today.
