Huh?? I cannot believe the answerers before me.

Just look at a map!

NYC averages MUCH warmer than Toronto over the winter months, because it is both more southeasterly and on the sea. When the same arctic air mass covers both cities NYC will usually be 10-15 degrees F (6-8 degrees C)
warmer.

The only winter weather that can be worse in NYC is the occasional "nor'easter" blizzard, which is enhanced by ocean moisture and winds (a phenomenom not possible for Toronto, although it happens to Buffalo from northeast gales going over Lake Ontario when a storm
tracks over west-central New York State and up the St. Lawrence Valley).

I can tell you from first hand experience that winters in New York City are just as brutal as in Toronto. I nearly froze in NYC when I went again last December. You may luck out and occasionally encounter a warm front down there in NYC but to be honest, there really isn't much of a difference between our winters. Nothing drastic anyway. If you'll be traveling to Toronto, I would suggest that you pack clothes that you would wear during winter in New York City. I hope that helped. Have fun!

I live in Toronto and I have been to NYC in the winter. They are about the same. Toronto winters are getting more and more mild.... we hardly had any snow last year.

At the very most, Toronto gets a bit more snow, but the temp is pretty much on par.
