i'd say your out of ideas...because you are wrong..illegals have no right just because it is hard to gain citizenship...the US could close the borders if we want and that would be our right......we didn't ask illegals to come and work here.....I know you think we did...but it's not true

Thats not what I got from her answer......I got they only want to work, they are not even seeking citizenship, or feel they are entitled to it....

Don't twist statements to make you look good, thats just ignorant...

Because maybe some don't have the means to pay for becoming legal?! And try, Oh yeah Mr. Smith, I will work for you, but I can't afford to pay for the training, since you want me to pay for it......

PS....Many legal residents never acquire their citizenship either, what do you say about them?

Maybe you've seen this -
Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these
protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends
who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only
a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker.

Oh yeah, and I want you to learn MY language so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America.

They want to be able to do what the rest of us want...to provide adequate shelter and food for their family. I think what Angela means, is that they are not asking for citizenship (not because they don't want it, but because they will settle for much less) just to be able to work in this country, make a little dough and provide for their families back home. How is that arrogant? If allowed to work here legally, common sense tells me that they would gladly pay taxes like the rest of us instead of having to endure life-threatening treks across rivers and deserts to get here, not to mention the large amounts of money they pay the smugglers to get them across. $2000 to a smuggler and risking your life in the Arizona desert or $2000 in income taxes to Uncle Sam? A no brainer if you ask me.

And since when is citizenship a requirement for paying taxes? Legal residents and those on work visas also have to pay, so what "burden" are you talking about? If they are allowed to work legally in this country they will pay taxes. But guess what, the majority of Americans are ALSO against temporary work visas! So what people like you are really saying is that they don't want these people here legally either.

Look, I have major issues with this too. Don't mistake me as some left-wing diehard liberal with immense adoration of humanity. I too believe immigration (legal and illegal) is costing our country. But how can we say, my parents/grandparents/etc. got through, now close the doors, we don't want any more?

We are fortunate enough to be born in this country, to work for a decent wage and come and go as we please. Others want just a piece of what we have and we turn a blind eye and call them criminals for wanting that same American dream we all want. I can't condemn them for that. On the other hand, I do think their presence here drives down wages and the quality of life for our lower classes, but as long as we insist on paying a buck for a hamburger at McDonalds and won't pay a living wage to the guy that mows our lawn or the lady that cleans our motel room, we will create a job market for low wage earners like these.

I do not take offense to any ones opinion, not even yours but please do not disrespect me by "putting" words in my mouth. That would be rude. "Non-Resident Alien's" which you have referred to as "Legal Workers" Do pay taxes, insurance etc. THEY WOULD HAVE TO RIGHT TO VOTE. So in essence they would not be "running" our country with no voting power. So far as learning English. How many languages do you speak? Not everyone has an aptitude for language....just like everyone can't be a rocket scientist, but I also feel if a person has the capacity to learn another language they should do so. If for no other reason to converse with people such as yourself.

Spirit Walker..... said it best they want the gravey, but they don't want to learn English, or do the work to become legal, they just want to work and reap the benifits and send money home. They want no responsibility!! it takes to become a citizen.

Don't change her words around.... she didn't say they don't want to pay taxes.... if they work legally... they have to pay taxes!!

You can be here legally.... not be a US Citizen.... and will have to pay taxes...

Like I've said, before... my husband is here legally, he is not a US Citizen.... and he pays enough in taxes alone to support a middle class family (in California) for one year! He pays more in taxes alone.... then some people make as their income.

That's the picture I'm getting. All the rights and freedoms and freebies but non of the responsibilities. They want to use our Constitution and laws to benefit them and disregard them when it's convient. Heck wouldn't we all like to pick and choose which laws we feel like obeying and cry racism and unfairness when we get caught breaking them? Who wouldn't like to just DEMAND and throw a tantrum, bust a few heads and "get in your face" and then have it all handed to you. They are acting like 4 year olds......2 yr. olds that can talk. And this government is acting like a parent who's too afraid to tell the little brat no.
