I have a 1986 Dodge Van that originally came with only an AM radio. Lucky me. I'm trying to replace it with an AM/FM radio from the same year. The problem I have is that it is missing a connector. Apparently, on normal (AM/FM) radios, there are two connectors, and on my AM radio there is only one. This is the only wiring I can see. Where can I find a resource on how to fix this? Or, do you have any advice? Polite answers only please.

If it were me I would call your local Dodge dealer and see if they can tell you if ther is an adaptor or if there is a trick or two.

Sounds like if it's a solid blue with black its either related to the electric antenna system or it could be a separate switchable output that turns on a preamp. In other words it supplys a signal or 12 volt output to a antenna motor or preamp when the stereo is turned on.Also many times when a wire has black on it it means it a negative or ground. Best thing to do is take a 12 volt test probe or volt meter and find out for yourself or call the dealership if its a factory radio and they can tell you at least how to find out or if it's a aftermarket system contact the company via the net etc. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way the problem is so many different company's or manufactures use different color codes.

thats because most am radios use only one or two speakers when a am/fm system uses at least four or some sort of setup like that. plus the am/fm radio might be digital and need a memory wire. i would go after market instead of using a stock version. you can get a decent radio from walmart or ??? hook it up with some speakers of your choice. just my opinion

You only have a positive and a ground to any radio plus the speaker wires and antenna lead. Pretty simple to install even without a wiring diagram.
