U will find lot of inspiration !

To me, best derelict things are:
Gasholders: behind Kings Cross Station
Lighthouse building: just outside Kings X.

Are you looking for delapidated castles? You won't be able to find them in London. You may need to head out to the country. Scotland also has a lot more old castles in it then England. Some even date back to the time of the Roman Empire.

(The Romans owned Britain shortly before the empire fell. It was a very, very brief occupation.)

In any event, have fun! My pastor went there earlier this year and had a blast!
