So here I am in a Safeway parking lot with my 15 month old daughter. Turns out I left my lights on while shopping and now my vehicle wont start. I strap my kid in her seat, pop the hood, pull out my cables and look for someone who looks handy enough to be able to figure out positive from negative cause I have no clue.
I ask 3 people who all say they have new batteries/cars that manufacturers recommend not to give boosts with.
Ok, so its like cold out, and I take my kid out of the car, go into the grocery store and ask if anyone inside can come out and give me a boost. I hear "well we're understaffed, my car is new, I have to ask the manager, why dont you have a seat."
Ok my daughter needs a change by now, and its been like 30 mins since I first discovered this problem. So I go outside again to see if theres a handy person. In this whole time no 1 offers any help, everyone just acts like an idiot. Finally a tourist from Montreal boosted my van so all kind ppl are from Montreal

It is a shame about this incident. Don't give up hope on humanity though. Have faith that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes you have to wait a while for a helping hand...in your case, yours had to come from Canada :) Look on the bright side though, my old car was designed with a metal frame bar that ran above the battery. It was impossible to either give or recieve a jump without first removing part of the frame. Bottom line is that you should remember how you felt at that time, and try to pass on kindness rather than pass by when you see someone in need. Kindness is its own reward.

I feel for you. I was once stranded in a Safeway parking lot. Luckily it was 4 blocks from home, and I had to go potty and the restroom was out of order. I hoofed it home, and had my husband call AAA. Then I had to hoof it back and wait. The AAA guy was very nice and even replaced my battery since it was shot and didn't ding it for a service call since we bought a battery.

But at 6:30 a.m. nobody was around to give me a jump, even though I had jumper cables!

Get AAA, really, it's only $79 a year for the both of us. And always take the cell phone with you and have it programmed. I might have been half-way across town!

The same happened to Mom and I except the van had something wrong to do with antifreeze. Finally a hairy looking guy helped. I thought I was going to have to walk to a farm someplace. (Since I'm younger more youthful) We were on open road with the emergancy lights on. So yes I guess chivialry is dead.

Thank God, someone FINALLY helped you. This is what our world is coming to. How awful for you. A mother and child need help, and everyone basically just stands there with there thumbs up their butts. My God, thats pathetic. I would have helped you in a heartbeat. Im sorry you had to go thru that. People are just getting more ignorant everyday.
