disagree because Where do you find that in the Bible?
Sounds Catholic. Brilliant move, really. if you tell people that it is a sin to use birth control, you have lots more little children to raise catholic and give money to the Catholic church. (

I disagree with her. My husband and I used a form of contraceptive when we got married. I did not use birth control pills as when I was dicussing options with my doctor, I didn't feel the possible side effect were worth the risk. But we both took measures as we both didn't think we were ready to have a baby. The Lord showed us otherwise as I got pregnant the day after the wedding night. I am so happy the Lord gave us our daughter and I have absolutely no regrets.
As a believer God knew my heart on the matter but my heart changed. There are some Christian husbands and wives out there that aren't ready for a baby. Whether it be financially, emotionally, physically, etc.
After my daughter was born, we chose to take preventative measures because I had a rough delivery and had to have a c-section. Certain ones I was still agaist after talking to my doctor, but we still took measures. I know it was acceptable to God because He knew my heart and what I had just been through. My body needed time to heal.
I have friends that have been on the other contraceptives that I am against but I don't judge them for it because I don't know all the reasons they are on it. I know birth control pills helped one of my friends with severe monthly cycles. She is a Christian.
I would change her sentence to read Sex is most fullfilling the way she describes, from my own personal experience, but I can't speak for my other friends.
The point is God looks at the heart period.

We've had this discussion with friends of ours who are practicing Catholics. I know they would agree with this statement as that is what they are taught in their church and in their Natural Family Planning classes. It appears to me that the only reason to have sex it to procreate. If that is the case, wouldn't it then be wrong to have sex during the infertile times of the month? They were also told that anal sex is ok and acceptable. Again, same question... that is preventing a pregnancy so how could that be right?

weird - I don't know where they got that from. ????? The Bible only speaks of sex being acceptable within the marriage covenant. There is no other regulations that I have ever read, and I have read the whole Bible. It's a Catholic thing and they're notorious for making up rules and rituals for their unsuspecting masses.
The issue of birth control is also not mentioned, but is still a big debate among Christians that I know, even within the same congregation.

Sex is acceptable whenever and however the people having sex want it to be. Screw Christianity if it wants to limit my sexual freedom.
Notice she didn't say anything about the female orgasm or love. She's one of those "only for babies" types, clearly. I, on the other hand, am committed to getting my partner to orgasm whenever we have sex. But I also think sex is pleasurable and should therefore be done recreationally.
I am eclectic Pagan.

I am a Christian and firmly dissapprove of abortion, so it stands to reason, it is better to prevent a pregnancy that one doesn't want than to wait and have it aborted, which to me is murder. Contraception, I think is not so sinful. There is a potential for life there all right, but if the sperm and egg don't connect, then there is no life to take.

Sex is only appropriate when you are (1) not hurting yourself and (2) not hurting others.
Compassion for yourself and others should really be the only standard. Every other restriction is just part of someone's politics.
