Do you agree todays kids and teens are spoiled? Look at my niece she's
getting a brand new car from her Mom+Dad and this girl does absolutley zippo around the house no chores, never helps with the dishes, she doesn't clean her room she's almost 19 years old and she won't get off her *** and do her own laundry and her Mom doesn't say anything.

Generation Y? No Generation Lazy.

"That's really rather unfair to generalize an entire age group on the sheer basis that your niece is spoiled."

It's the truth many of your generation have a
poor attitude and are lazy and it's not just me
who is seeing it.

"If you're going to blame anyone, blame the goddamned parents of this day and age."

It's called personal responsibuility passing the blame on to them is a cop out.

"your parents worked you to death"

They never work me to death my 6 sisters and, my brother did chores all the time I was raised
on a farm everyone did their share and never
complained because we knew it had to be done.

"well no one's going to so join the present times or join a hippie commune. this isn't the fifties anymore. i mean god, grow up please."

Whats that suppose to mean? present times
live off Mommy and Daddy and have the attitude
that the world owes you?!

Yes I agree. The problem I see more often than not is that parents lack the "discipline bone" that our parents had. These days we have to respect our kids and not the other way around. Adults pu$$y foot around their kids because they are afraid of what might happen if they impose "tough love" on them. There are more consequences for parents who don't discipline according to state/governtment guidelines and kids these days use that to their advantage. They take the responsibility of discipline from the parents but hold the parents responsible for their kids' actions. I agree that there is such a thing as abuse and going too far however, we went from child abuse to parent abuse these days.

that's really rather unfair to generalize an entire age group on the sheer basis that your niece is spoiled. there are thousand of bitchy bratty stuck up pampered kids, yes, that's true.
but more than that are thousands of down on their luck work-for-anything-they-get kids who are grateful just to wake up every morning. it's the same as it always has been throughout the times- there are richies and there are normals. our technology is just changing and new opportunities are coming about and some parents are becoming more lenient, that's all.
if you're going to blame anyone, blame the goddamned parents of this day and age. dont go around bitching about the unfairness of it all with your woa-is-me attitude until you've met every kid in the world and theyre all driving bmws, thank you.
how the hell old are you anyways? going on yahoo answers and complaining about how the younger generation doesn't do their own laundry. i can hazard a guess and say you're jealous of them actually, and that your parents worked you to death and forced you to act like an adult, never letting you have a proper childhood... or you could just be plain miserable over the fact that you're aging and still bitter and no one ever gave you recognition for how hard you worked.
well no one's going to so join the present times or join a hippie commune. this isn't the fifties anymore.
i mean god, grow up please.

yep yep yep...all the parents fault too.
I am a parent of a 16 year old girl. EVERYone keeps asking me if I'm buying her a car. HA! Absolutely NOT. No one every bought me a car. I did just fine. In fact - I had nothing as a kid. A bike and a tv (not in my room...in the living room for all to share) OH! and a cassette player! :) That was a good Christmas. Loved that thing.
My daughter helps around the house and the more she does the more I give her in her allowance. Should she get an allowance? I'm not sure, but I give her one. Had to make a decision there one way or another. If she does nothing, she gets no allowance. No skin off my neck. Her friends really have all kinds of things too. She doesn't complain too much. I think she shouldn't...she has way more than I did at her age.
But yes. To your question. Yes. This up and coming generation will be a bane in our society. Lookout.

There are alot of spoiled teens yes but not all of us are spoiled brats...i think that parents have lost the respect of their kids and woudl rather be friends with them over being the parental figure that i teenger needs. I have to get a job if i want anythign and my parents wont let me get my permit til i'm 17(16 now) If i want a car i have to pay the insurence and buy any parts that the car needs. So yes 75% of teens are apoiled but just remeber their are some of us out there that have respect for our parents and now the value of a dollar.

I'm part of this generation but I definately don't act like it. I believe they're calling it the Entitlement Generation. They believe they deserve everything without having to work for it. I don't agree and I work my butt off to get what I need and want. I can't fathom being 19 and never doing a load of laundry or my parents just giving me a car. Honestly, though, there is no one to blame but the parents because they let their children get away with it. I don't get it. I see plenty of people my age that are like that. I hate it.

Oh yes...they are spoiled. I remember we did not get nothing without working for it. Then when we were old enough to get a job if we weren't continuing education we still could not get nothing unless we had half the price of whatever it was.

So being responsible and knowing the real appreciation of receiving something they do not know.

I agree! What's with all these children driving brand new vehicles? That's Bull sh!t. What i don't get is why parents are enabling them to be this way. Kick them in the as5 and make them get a job and buy their own stuff. How can then appreciate anything when they never have to work for it. These kids will never survive in the real world when their parents stop supporting them and then they will be a pain in the as5 to their spouse one day acting like spoiled rotten little pukes!!!AAAAAHHHHH!!!!

I just don't understand these parents that spoil their kids like that!! If they think they are doing them any favors, they are kidding themselves. They have no respect for their belonging, themselves or anybody else! It's sickening!! I wouldn't have bought my kids a car if I was a millionaire! Just think the lazy little brats are the ones that will be looking after us when we're old!! Heaven help us!!

It is a horrible idea to let kids get away being brats...If the parents love them, they will insist on some discipline..many people get a lot more mature than your niece before they are 19.
