Lucifer thought that he could be God. When he thought this--He was no longer God's angel. He was on his own.

I'm not a believer BUT since studying the Bible was able to conclude that...Satan didn't disobey God, he works for God and is the "tempter" of man . That is why he "tempted" Jesus. That is why he "tempted" Job. That is why he "tempted" David with the census. All were done with permission from God. Job is such a sorry book, God is such a jerk in it (as in the rest of the bible). I mean, here Job is, minding his own business and along comes God, bored and wanting to play a game with Jobs emotions. He makes a "bet" with Satan that Job will remain faithful no matter what, Satan gets permission FIRST before beginning his reign of terror. WTF Kind of sick and twisted love is this on God's part?

Jews do not believe that Satan was an evil fallen angel, they believe that he works for God. Also, if Satan was the evil snake in Eden and had already rebelled against God, then why would he even bother asking permission from God about what he could do to Job? It makes absolutely zero sense.

One book in the Old Testament speaks of Lucifer and his fall, many Christians say that Lucifer is the name of Satan. That is a huge error, the scripture is talking about the King of Babylon, not Satan.

my ? why are you worried about satan?
but heres an answer for you...
Why did Satan fall from Heaven? Satan fell because of pride. He desired to be God, not to be a servant of God. Notice the many "I will..." statements in Isaiah 14:12-15. Ezekiel 28:12-15 describes Satan as an exceedingly beautiful angel. Satan was likely the highest of all angels, the most beautiful of all of God's creations. Satan was not content in his position. Instead, Satan desired to be God, to essentially "kick God off His throne" and take over the rule of the universe. Satan wanted to be God, and interestingly enough, that is what Satan tempted Adam and Eve with in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5). How did Satan fall from Heaven? Actually, a fall is not an accurate description. It would be far more accurate to say that God cast Satan out of Heaven (Isaiah 14:15; Ezekiel 28:16-17).

Satan decided that he wanted to be God and sought to overthrow God. God most certainly could forgive His own angel if He chose to, but why. Satan deserves the punishment he receives. In fact I think God was pretty lenient with Satan. He could have destroyed him then and there.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

That is a very good question.

As humans we can repent and be forgiven of the sins that we commit.

But with a fallen angel, there is no forgiveness.

The reason for this is that to be forgiven, you have to let in the light of God's grace and receive acceptance of God's mercy.

The fallen angels are completely closed to that. It is not a defect in God's mercy but the nature of the fallen angel that cannot accept God's light.

The reason for this is that an angel's intellect is far vaster than a human's, knowing levels of being that we cannot even conceive.

With the evil angels, they knew exactly what the good was, and decided to reject it in cold blood. That is why they cannot be forgiven.

With us humans, on the other hand, our intellects are in the twilight. We don't fully understand the evil that we do, so we can be forgiven.

But with an angel's absolute knowledge of what was rejected, he cannot say he did not know. That is why forgiveness is closed to him.

Satan covets that which God has/is. To quote Lord Action, "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." As chief among the heavenly host, Satan was given great power. It was his urge for more that led him to war against the Throne. It is this battle that will be renewed in the end times according to Revelation. As for forgiveness, the idea is that a sinful behavior is ended, and through penitence, forgiveness found.

God can and would forgive Lucifer, however there are three things that must be done before God will grant forgiveness to anyone.
1. You must recognize and admit to the sin/sins you have committed
2. You must go to God in the spirit of sincerity and humility
3. You must ask for forgiveness

Satan tried to take over Heaven. That's bad for any God's ego. So,he cannot be forgiven or trusted.I guess they didn't see it in the light of taking over the family business,or something.Anyway, they've been fighting ever since, and any day now,Satan will be walking the earth, trying to win over new converts to get back at God for making him leave.I know where God's coming from, though. My ex-husband tried to run things his way and I made him leave, and my house is way smaller than Heaven, and not as tidy, either.

He tried to set himself up above God, and Satan is an angelic being and knew exactly what he was doing at the time.

Lucifer, (satan) was the most beautiful of all the angels Jesus created, and because he allowed himself to become prideful, and to try to claim he was equal to GOD, he was cast down from heaven. God is all knowing, and already knew this would happen, and therefore knew how He would have to redeem back mankind from satan's strong-hold, by dying a substitutionary death in their place. Since He was sinless, His blood sacrifice was acceptable to the Father, and rising from the dead was proof still, that He was indeed, God. Hell was originally prepared only for satan and his demons as punishment for all the chaos and turmoil caused here on earth, but, unfortunately, anyone who doesnt accept His free gift of eternal life will find themselves spending eternity in the lake of fire as well.
