ewwwwwww Cream of mushroom! YUCK! I have a great recipe for sloppy joes.

1 pound of ground beef (chuck, round etc)
1 small onion, chopped fine

Cook until browned, drain well. Place back in skillet

Sauce for sloppy joes:

1/2 cup Ketchup
1 TBSP vinegar
1 TBSP Mustard
1 TBSP Worchestershire Sauce
1 TBSP Brown Sugar
(you can add more or less depending on your taste)

Mix in bowl, pour over hamburger mixture. Blend well, cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes.

I answered this question not to long ago. My Mother used to make them a certain way with vegetable soup, ketchup and mustard. I've always liked them better than the brand you mentioned. I'll try to find the recipe.

SLOPPY JOES:
1 - 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 can Campbell's Vegetable Soup
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 - 2 Tablespoons ketchup
hamburger rolls
Cook beef and in skillet until browned. Pour off fat. Add soup, mustard and ketchup. Heat thoroughly. Serve on rolls. Enjoy!

Classic Sloppy Joes

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 8
Rating:

Ingredients:

1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil
1 small onion, chopped
1/3 cup (75 mL) chopped green pepper
1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
1 1/2 cup (375 mL) Heinz Tomato Ketchup
1 tbsp (15 mL) Heinz Worchestershire Sauce
2 tbsp (30 mL) brown sugar
1/4 tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper
8 sandwich buns

Preparation:

Heat oil in a large frying pan set over medium-high heat. Sauté onions and green pepper for 5 minutes.

Add beef to the pan. Cook, stirring until browned, about 5 to 10 minutes. Drain off fat.

Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened. Serve on sandwich buns. Makes 8 servings.

Twists:

Twist 1 For burger-appeal, jazz-up Sloppy Joes with additional toppings such as shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, grated cheese, sour cream or ranch dressing.

Twist 2 For a meat variation, use lean ground chicken or pork instead of beef.

Twist 3 For a Veggie-boosted Joe, stir in 1 cup (250 mL) each shredded carrot and chopped mushrooms.

Twist 4 For a high fibre alternative, try whole wheat pitas or rolls instead of sandwich buns.

Twist 5 For a chunkier Joe, use Heinz Chili Sauce, Chunky with Sweet Peppers instead of ketchup.

Twist 6 For a smokey-flavoured Joe, use one of the Heinz Western Grill BBQ Sauces instead of ketchup.

I use hamburger, tomato soup, tomatoes, bell peppers, a touch of vinegar, and some grease from the grease pot (usually bacon grease). I haven't had any complaints.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. And so as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.

mine is 1lb. ground round, minced onions(onion flakes work well), 1 chopped garlic clove, 1/3 cup of ketchup, 1/3 cup of your favorite bbq sauce, two dashes of chili powder, one dash of cominos (cumin-optional) and salt and pepper to taste. i cook the ground round with garlic, onion, comino. once the meat is brown and fully cooked i add the ketchup, bbq sauce, and chili powder and let SIMMER for about 10 minutes. then i scoop into buns. this is greasy and DELICIOUS!! my kids devour this stuff.

I have always just bought the packages of spices at the grocery store. You just need the meat and a can of tomatoe paste.
