I'm talking about when the person is not running away, has his hand up in the air and they're running toward him and tazer him before they tackle him. Why do they do that? If you ask me, cuz they're assholes who are on a power trip (i'm not talking about all cops, the ones that abuse their power).

i've seen many clips online and on tv when cops tazered suspects when they are surrendering. the suspects might've been in some kind of altercation before the cops got there but once the cops got there, the suspects are completely obeying what the cops say, the cops continue to yell at the suspect, and then finally tazer him while his hands are up. it's BS

I agree with you, some of those so called officers on the force are "badge heavy" and love to use their authority to lord over people and play mind games with them, not because they have to, but because they can.

Look at it this way. The cops are thinking: If we taser this A/H, then we wont get our uniforms torn up, get our teeth knocked out, get bitten and possibly get aids, maybe lose our weapon and/or our life.

If YOU'RE the cop, which way would YOU do it? Try being a cop for a few months, and you will change your tune maybe.

You ARE right that some of the cops taser bad guys 'cause they're fun to watch when they start flopping around on the ground.

This answer doesn't suggest right or wrongness to your question. It would however be an educational experience - with everyone, not just yourself - to look forward to some day sitting on a jury where a complex, public-opinion-dividing issue is a core point of arguement, and to witness a wider perspective of a given event - listen and see more than a sound bite of an event - and compare what you learned from the trial to what you read about it in the news.

ya some are jerks, that is not news............but i think tazer is a better option then hand to hand combat, and just because he/she appears to give up does not mean that they are or will, some have been known to run and are just trying to make the officer think that they are giving up and then run or get combative, they do not let their guard down until the person is in cuffs or incapacitated so they are no longer a threat

Most generally, tazers are not used unless the felon
is fighting, shooting, or trying to get away from police.
I've never heard of one being tazered if he was not
combatent.

I have never seen anybody who is not a threat or a risk to their well being get tased. If that is the case, then there is a good brutality case.

An individual will get tased because it is a safer method then wrestling with them or pulling their fire arm.

Cops don't taser anyone without reason.

I agree. If they do it for no reason, it is illegal and they are breaking the law. Remember, it takes only a few rotten apples.

More than likely it is exactly as you said - power trip - the thrill of it - - hey at least they are not shooting them!
