Lately I've been getting alot of tension in my neck shoulders and back. I frequently have to be rubbing them. I've been really stressed about college lately, but I've been seeing that commercial that depression can be physically as well as emotionally. Im not really sure of the signs of depression. But lately Ive been sleeping alot. I can go to bed at 11:00pm and sleep till 1:00pm the next day. I could probably sleep all day if I didnt have things to do that day. Anyone go throug this?

I also get a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders. A good massage will help. Take time out for you and relax. Get out of bed and take a walk. If you do this at the same time every day you will feel much better.

I know there's a pressure point somewhere near the left shoulder blade that, when massaged, relieves tension in the neck and shoulders. Get a book on acupressure.

Even if you don't get the book, get a friend or someone to massage the upper left area of your back with their fingertips. You'll know when they hit the spot.

About your sleepin all day, dude get out and do stuff. I know someone who went through depression and this sleeping thing is one of the classic signs. It's great that you've recognised it...means you can now do something to control it. So take charge of your life ok....you're too young to be gettin depressed.

Whenever u feel blue, just remember that there's plenty of ppl in this world much much much worse off than you. So count ur blessings, be grateful for whtever u have and be happy. Tcare!

If you're like me, the tension is from studying all the time. Try going to the gym--it will give you an energy boost and loosen up your muscles. Try working your trapezius, latissimus dorsi, and levator scapulae because these will cause neck and back pain if they're not strong enough to withstand the stress you put on them by leaning over a desk for many hours. If you feel like you have other signs of depression like anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, or thoughts of suicide, please seek help.

Try drinking Tension Tamer tea or something similar with chamomile in it before you go to bed. That should help you relax so you can sleep better. Also, have you tried a heating pad on your neck and shoulders?

Try adding a few exercises to your daily routine, especially stretches and something to get your blood to moving.

Good luck!
