One of our cats, a 4 year old, female keeps going in mine and my parents tubs and sinks. These bathrooms are upstairs, and the litter box and another bathroom are downstairs. She doesn't go in the downstairs bathroom though. We also have 2 other cats, another 4 year old female, her sister, and a 2 year old male, who likes to chase her. We also have 2 dogs, a standard poodle and a basset hound who both are very nice to the cats and mainly just sleep or eat. All of our animals have been either spayed or neutered. We don't want to have to move the litter box upstairs or get another one for this cat only. (We also clean our litter box everyday.) My mom says that this is her last chance to straighten out or we will have to give her to the pound. Please Help!!! She's a really sweet cat and I wouldn't want to lose her.
please no cursing or major vulgarity on here

She is also declawed so she can't go outside and is also afraid of it.
I also just found out that she likes to go on the floors too. Would pouring bleach on that work also

Ahh I should probably stop adding so many things, but this is like my 2nd post.
Ok well anyway YES we do have a multiple cat litter so NO its not as gross as all of you keep saying.
And I know that this sounds cruel, but so does putting water in the sinks, my mom tried running her under the water in the sinks yesterday, but when we woke up there was poop in the sink again.
Also the"chaser" only chases her at night and is actually stopping more and more. so far only once since Sunday and @ night too.

Too many cats in one box. I've heard you are supposed to have one box per cat. Also, if the other cats are chasing her, she probably is afraid of getting "cornered" while doing her buisness. She feels safer in the tub or sink.

I am a cat lover myself and can completely understand where you are coming from! I would move the litter box out of the bathroom and put it somewhere else not too far from the bathroom so she and the other cats see it easily. Maybe right by the door even? Your call. You will have to close both bathroom doors so she can not go and use the bathroom in there for a while. She will have no choice but to use the litter box because the bathroom will be closed. Pretty soon she will get used to only using litter box and probably forget about the sinks and tubs.
I have a question....is she scared of the other cats (they chase her)? Maybe she's scared to go downstairs because of them? Or maybe she's really picky and uses only clean litter boxes! I've known cats that will absolutley not use soiled litter boxes! Cats can be really picky!

I don't understand what is so wrong with putting a litter box near the sink the cat is going in. She may need her own box. Some cats just will not go in a box that has to much poop & pee in it .
Don't send her to the pound. she would fit into somebody's life. The pound might but her down if they can't come up with a place for her.
Also you can talk to a vet about this.

You are supposed to have one extra litterbox than cats. You have 3 cats, so you should have 4 litter boxes.

Take kitty to vet so you can find out if it is a behavior problem or medical problem. A urinalysis is only like $35, the vet can check for crystals or a urinary tract infection.

Try putting your cat in a litterbox a few times a day so she will know she is supposed to go there. I did that to my cat, along with getting an extra litterbox, and she hasn't urinated outside the litterbox for 2 weeks now. She is on a diet now for her crystals in her urine, as prescribed by the vet.

Have you always lived in the house you're currently at? If so have all the pets been around her for a while, does she like/dislike any of them?
It's sounds like she's either acting out against something or someone. Also it seems like she might think she human or trying to be. Sometimes cats try to mimic our behaviour. The way we eat, sleep, go to the bathroom.
Have you tried using repellents? Orange peels work for some. Apple spray and others sprays you could also use. Or just leave the bathroom door closed.

Put a second litter box upstairs. For some reason she wants to eliminate there rather downstairs. I don't believe that it's asking too much to have a box upstairs to satisfy her and give you less of a mess to clean up - and to save her life! She will not survive if you take her to a shelter that will accept her (most no-kills won't take her because of the behavior).

I'm thinking your cat is afraid to use the boxes because of the 'chaser'. Try to break him of it. Meanwhile, try leaving a little water in the sinks and tubs. She'll get the idea when her paws keep getting wet every time she jumps in.

Meanwhile, a second box may well be in order since you do have so many cats.

Good luck!

Have you taken her to the vet? If it is not because of behavior issues often cats will urinate in the sink if they are having urinary problems. This happened with a few of our cats...we had dogs, too, that were friendly, and other multiple cats, and saw no problems with the other animals, but when we took her to the vet we found out she had a urinary tract problem, and with some antibiotics we were able to fix the problem.

CLEAN THE LITTER BOXES! That's GRoSS!

You might need to have separate boxes if one cat isn't allowed to use it due to the torment of another...

Pour bleach down the drains and let it sit (No rinsing). They hate the smell and wont want to do it...

I'm not sure what it's called, but you can get it at petco, petsmart, someplace like that. It's a spray, it doesn't smell like anything to us, but for some reason animals don't like it. People use it for there toilets so their dogs stop using the toilet as a water bowl. Maybe it could work for your situation?
