Yes I use the Superiore, according to Wikipedia and the Lombardo site it is aged at least 2 years. And 'fine' is the least aged.

It's the preferred fortified and dessert wine for sipping in Sicily and southren -most Italy.

Remember that wines are usually named after the region they come from, thus you can have multiple types of wines from a given region, in this case the city of Marsala in Sicily. The stuff you use to cook is probably a fortified version of the superiore type (i.e. the least aged). Having spent a year in Italy, I can tell you that the "regular" Marsala wine usually go by the name "Grillo," which is the name of the grape used to make it. The color is the same as commercially available Marsala, as is the scent (i.e. heavy on the alcohol smell). The taste, though, is different; you shouldn't really drink Marsala cooking wine. The tast of the vintage Marsala is alcohol heavy and biting, which is why you usually eat it with a mild cheese to dull the flavor. Personally, I didn't like it.

I got curious one day when I was cooking with it and had a swig. I found it to be very sweet. Too sweet for me to want to drink it by the glass.
