Hi, your dog might have kennel cough,it won't hurt to try 1-1.5cc children's Robitussin 3-4 times daily, if you don't see any improvement in 2-3 days you will have to carry your dog to the vet.also if it is kennel cough ,it is contagious and you might want to keep him or her away from your other pets until the cough has gone.
good luck

Usually dogs do not get hairballs as they do not lick to clean their fur as cats do but yes they can get them. It is quite possible if he is licking the cats.

The most obvious thing you can do to help out is to make sure you brush your pets everyday. If consistent brushing does not completely eliminate the problem then you can try increasing your pets fiber intake. Try sprinkling a teaspoon of psyllium fiber or wheat bran on your pets food.

He may also have an obstruction, Perhaps he has an allergy to something in the house....this only the vet can verify. Certainly if he continues in this manner for any length of time I would take him to the vet.

There are so many things that coughing could mean..This definitely calls for a trip to the vet. It could be any respiratory illness or a larger problem of the heart..You don't say how old he is...If he is elderly it could be because of calcification on his trachea..and/or heart valves..Or maybe he just has a cold! Get him checked out soon...

Perhaps she has an upset tummy. Unfortunately, dogs also cough when they have a heart problem. Your vet can help with medication.
