Serious responses only please. I am looking to buy soon! Also, if you know, which one has the least amount of shudder lag. Thanks in advance!

The Pentax K100D costs $570 vs. $800 for the Sony A100 (both prices are without lenses or a memory card). The Sony is a MUCH better camera. Shutter lag won't be an issue with either model.
If you want to stick close to the price of the Pentax, get a Nikon D50. That's the best entry level camera.
For around $650, get a Canon 350D or a Nikon D70s. Both models were recently discontinued and can be had for an insanely good price now.
And for the exact same price as the Sony, I suggest a Canon 400D. Or for $200 more, get a Nikon D80. Those are currently the best cameras for under $1000.
With Canon and Nikon, not only will you have a better camera for the price, you'll also have a vastly better range of lenses to choose from.

I'm not a big fan of the Sony A100. However, it is a 10 megapixel camera while the K100D is only a 6 megapixel camera (with a crappy lens to boot).

Your best bet is to forget both of these cameras and go buy either a Canon Digital Rebel XTi or a Nikon D80. The kit lens on the XTi is not the greatest (which is why it is so much cheaper than the D80). However, I think the Canon is slightly better overall than the Nikon. If you decide to go that route, buy it as the body only and get the lens seperately. The best choice is a Canon EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM standard zoom lens.

This is slightly more expensive overall than the Pentax or Sony but a FAR better value.

If you considering buying Sony DSLR A100K might as well go for the Canon Rebel XTi (400D), its the best affordable digital SLR out there.
