Many, and not only the Islamics, have this exit strategy:
Stay the course of comfort + dis-comfort in life + death.

Nobody heard "the God of all comfort" is no dis-comfort?
Nobody heard "the God of all grace" is no law law at all?

As I understand it, leaving the religion is not an option.

Sgt Squid's answer is inaccurate. Those blowing themselves up in Iraq and Israel are fighting a brutal, illegal occupation of their lands and, in the case of Israel, the subjugation of their rights. They do not do so to leave their religion.
