I just had a penicillin shot in my butt. I must have tightened my butt muscles or something because it really hurts. What is best to use, ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc..... Should I put ice on it or something?

Take whatever pain killers you would take for a headache or sprained ankle.

Try to keep off that cheek. The pain will subside over the next 2-3 days.

If the pain is severe, or you have any other problems then go back and see the person who gave you the shot.

Take a combo of ibuprofen and tylenol. Tylenol for the pain..and ibuprofen to help your muscles relax. Penicillin shots always hurt.

I try not to take pain killers as your body is telling you something is wrong.

When you take pain killer you will loose the ability to know if the pain is subsiding and at what rate.

Save pain killers for extreme pain not an injection in the bum.

Have a hot bath and masage area if you really need to.

Ibuprofen is usually the best for muscle pain.
