I've need to unzip quite a few files over the years and I haven't had any Zip program. I don't really know how to use one either, so please think of how consumer friendly the program is also. I am on disability and have a fixed income also. But I had to take out some money from one of my accounts to buy new glasses, because I squashed my only pair that I have. So I'm on a mission to find fairly reasonable glasses and I also need a Zip file program
for my computer. Has anyone had this problem with getting a reasonable Zip Program?

I have Windows XP and it has its own zip program. I have zipped programs with it quite successfully, and unzip the same programs. I just haven't tried it with a file that had been previously zipped by winzip so not sure it will work. But worth a try.

Right click on the file you wish to unzip and check to see if the options that pop up will allow you to do so.

Winzip was designed specifically for Windows Op. Systems and does a great job, not onlly for zipping files but unzipping them as well and because most everybody has it, they can exchange files and programs and unzip them so that they can be used. Hope this helps. Larry

If I were you, I would choice winrar program. It cover winzip and windows rar extension and high compression than winzip software. And,,,, You said that you broke glass on computer... If you get it, I recommend 3M brand and ...EF200 model. It's price is very high but you have relaxing eyes. Consider these things...
Good Luck.

Windows XP comes with a program called Compressed Folders which shows a folder with a zipper. It's free and comes with Windows.

The other people offered trial and shareware programs for you, but I would submit a free program called ALZip from http://www.altools.net/

It's simple and free. Save your money for glasses.
