I play the lottery a lot. Like, I'll buy thousands of tickets every month. I also like to drop a couple of thousand bucks on blackjack once in a while. But I don't seem to be running out of money, and I actually win kinda often. Do I have a problem?

make your way over to the poker table. The stakes are higher. if you run out of money, you ahve a problem, if you win, keep playing!

A gambling problem is a relative thing. For most people spending a few thousand a month would hurt them financially, for some it makes no difference.

Here's a questionnaire for you:

1) Does the money you spend on gambling mean that you have to go without other things such as vacations, paying bills etc?

2) Are you hiding your habit from your family members and friends?

3) Do you owe people money as a result of gambling?

4) Are you gambling with more than 10% of your income?

5) Does your gambling lead to arguments with your family or friends?

If you have answered yes to some or all of these questions, then I'd say you have a problem. If you answer no to all, then you don't have a problem.

Consider though that the odds of winning the lottery are just awful. Surely you could be investing that money more wisely?

Why don't you learn to play poker instead? At least then it is just your skills against others, the house does not have a desire for you to lose as it does in black jack or the lottery.

Yes, thousands of tickets every month is way too much. Take that thousand bucks and invest it. You'll have a much better chance of making money.
