Smoking interferes with taste, and therefore every food tastes better after you quit.
Food tastes so much better that many people eat more and therefore gain weight.
Dramatically increase your consumption of raw fruits and vegetables and stop eating before you feel full.

I smoked for 38 years, just had open heart, 4 bypasses. The best way to quit is to go "cold turkey", endure the cravings with nothing in your mouth as a substitute. But understand if you feel you have to, but the biggest part is stopping the habit and just as we eat potato chips and snacks it's hard to stop. To just cut back is only a partial withdrawal and few people ever stop like that. If I can stop after 40 years cold and a 3 pack a day habit, then anyone can that wants to bad enough.

Nuts and seeds are full of fat BUT it's the good fat...you do need to watch how much you intake. I love nuts/and especially sunflower seeds but limit my servings! Just balance your good fats with some healthy green salads and veggies.

And a big CONGRADS on quitting smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would say, yes, considering the amount you are eating. Chew sugarless gum instead. Congrats on stopping smoking. I did it 2 years ago, and can breathe a lot better.
