I would like to have an old coin turned into a ring. Who should I contact about this? A jewelry store? Or are there people who specifically do this type work?

Most good jewelers can get this done for you and design what you are looking for. Make sure the old coins value does not exceed the value of the ring. You should be able to find its value on eBAY etc. Good luck.

I agree with Gary, old coins are normally worth more due to their historical value then what gold is worth.
Sell the coin then buy or design a ring.

the simple answer is go to a good jeweler's shop. they should be able to do it, or refer you to someone who can.

if the coin has a historical value and worth more than if melted, maybe consult an appraiser to see if its worth can be retained if proper papers are filled. my great grandfather melted an old medal to make into a ring.

Definitely a jewelry store. But make sure it is one that has a Master Jeweler, or Master Goldsmith in the store. Some place that does custom work. Not just any regular store that you would find in a mall, but a store that has "NICE" jewelery and an
"in-store" jeweler.
