Firefox is a very good browser, faster than Explorer with better features IMHO. As it stands with about 5-7% of the browser market it is not worth hackers trouble to find the loopholes that probably exist in Firefox but that may change if FF does get more popular.
Security is in your hands. You must do what you can to make your computer secure. Install security updates as they become available, use AV & firewalls on your internet connection and even if you install Firefox remember that there is enough of Explorer that is part of your operating system to cause trouble if unprotected. so keep up with IE updates too.

If you keep your private information, consider using Zone Alarm Suite software. It keep your credit card number and include tracking function. Fire fox software is good than IE. But, could not see all web information. So, I strongly recommend Zone Alarm Suite software. Good luck.
P.S: Zone Alarm suit is one of Firewall software. But it have many special function. want helpful this.

Firefox is pretty good, and it has some definite upsides over microsofts version. To my best knowledge firefox can be completely trusted with your passwords, i use computers for a living and i trust it completely. Another good one to use is MSN explorer, which is also pretty good. also the new IE7 test download has most of the things that forefox has, if you need the sites for any of these, drop me an email and i will find them for you. Happy choosing
Hope i helped

It's meant to be more secure than IE, however in September there were more bugs in FF than in IE.
Any browser can be trusted as long as you have good security programs. If you don't have, then you can get some free, good and recommended programs from here http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/219333/an/0/page/0#219333

Hi mozilla is a much safer web browser then IE, and yes it can be trusted and is more fun, like keeping the weather and countdown lock, you choose what you want your brower to do, plus you can download many of the themes you want your brower to look like,
and to answer your your question, it is one of the safest out there.
