OK, Army and Marine boot camps are NOT the same.
My husband is a DI on Parris Island, so I know with authority how to answer this.
The first week is checking in. Everything from paperwork, clothing issue, haircuts...etc.
Know this, your DI's will ALWAYS be somewhere in the midst of where you all are. You may or may not see them, but they are there.
The Marines do not shut down boot for the Holidays. With you starting on the 19th, it is probably likely you will have an extended week of checking in, because a lot of the checking in is done by civies, and they have a lot of time off around that time.
But, typically a week. My husband said it would be not later than after the Christmas Holiday.
Personally, I would want it to start, and be done with. If you are coming here, be happy. Its not going to be hot,and you will not deal with sand fleas.
As for any libo, you get that on Libo Sunday after you complete the Cruc., and then family/grad day. In the 17 years as a Marine wife, I have no clue what the word exodus means, nor is it in our vocab, and there wont be work detail. You will be checking in, then right on to boot. As for the DI's going home to spend with family, ha, there is no such thing, unless he is a Senior DI. The third hat is there all the time!
good luck

You will start your basic training, but with it being so close to the holidays it will be a little bit more relaxed. You will still do all the things that other recruits have had to go through on schedule, they my just give you a bit more free time thats all. I had a freind that went through Marine Corps boot around the same time last year.

Got this straight from a Marine friend of mine at Paris Island -- you WILL start basic training right away. They may have to make some adjustments in terms of the training you will receive, but the base does not go to skeleton crew during the holiday break (especially not the Basic Military Training Center). P.S.: May God bless you and good luck!

Because of the Holidays the staff will probably be taking leave to be with their families, but there is a chance you will start training the day you arrive because of the current world situation. No matter what your life will be hell from the time you step off the bus until you graduate from boot camp.
God bless you and I pray that He keeps you safe wherever you go.

In the Marine Corps you train right through the holidays! You don't get any special time off for Christmas. And if they weren't going to start your training wouldn't they wait to ship you? What about the people getting ready to graduate around Christmas, would they make them wait until after to get to go home? NO NO NO....train train train...Good Luck!

I guess you will find out. The Marine recruiter would be the best one to talk to in regards to Marine training. As a marine I would suspect they would not hesitate too long on beginning your training. Big difference between Marines and Army.

They give a little time off but you have to stay at basic. You can't go home, but you will start training after the holidays and you will rpobably be on a work detail. The Navy is the same way. Be praying for you.

You will probably start, though the normal routine will be a bit less then normal. It may be a little laid back your few days there, which will be great for you since the first week is hell week. Assuming thats what will happen

I would think that if your rotation fills up, then you will be training right away.
I'm proud of you and I hope you have a wonderful learning experience in the military.

I do not know specifics of this case. How does it matter what you have to do? you have enlisted. You need to obey instructions. That is the only course open to you. It is better to accept this truth and follow it with a smile.
