I agree! ADOPT ADOPT ADOPT! Petfinder.com is awesome, and you can choose the age and the shelter.... online, before you go to see the dog.
DONT BUY from a pet store or even the newspaper. So many backyard breeders are flooding us with pets of mediocre quality just to make a few dollars income. Its sad, when there are hundreds of nice dogs being euthanized daily. And the toy breeds are REALLY bad with the puppy mills and back yard breeders. Good top breeders Do want a lot of money, they understand the market.
GO see this flash movie: http://www.columbusco.org/shelterdogs. and then go see PetFinder.com!

Be careful of cheap breeders. They often run puppy mills and sell dogs with tons of problems. Better to take your search to Petfinders.com or look up a poodle rescue on the web.

Humane Society. You can put your name in for a certain breed and when it comes around, they'll call you. Usually.
There are many many little adoptable doggies with no homes. Try it.
