He does not need to personally notify you, but he is supposed to register with the city he moves into.
If you go to the police station, they should have an updated listing of the sexual predators in your neighborhood... there are also websites you can access:

No, they do not have to notify YOU (whoever you are), they have to notify THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, and register with them their current, complete, and correct address.
You can go online and find all registered sex offenders/predators registered in your county/town. Just type in "sex offenders _____ County", and you should get the link. Most of these sites list the person's name, address, what they were convicted of, what their status is, and a photo.
If you think there is a convicted sex offender/predator that has moved into your neighborhood (and I'm not sure how you would know this offhand) that has NOT registered with your Police Department, look it up first. If you still don't find the person listed, then call the Police Department and express your concerns. They won't blow you off - they want to know about this stuff, but, please be careful about spreading any false rumors unless you are 100% sure of the facts. Sex offenders/predators are the lowest of the low - but - falsely accusing somebody of these heinous crimes can ruin their lives forever.
I used to work with a woman whose 19-year-old son was convicted of being a sex offender because he KISSED a 16-year-old girl - with her permission! That was the sum total of his offense. He now has to go through the rest of his life with "convicted sex offender" on his record. The point is, just because someone has this designation on their record, doesn't necessarily mean that they are guilty of the worst thing you could imagine.
All I am saying is, you have a right to know who is living in your neighborhood - that's why this information is public record. READ THE WHOLE FILE ON THE PERSON.

no, the don't have to notify you. They have to register in the county where they live and work. If the county chooses to notify you, that's their choice. Unless you run a daycare or something along those lines, they won't tell you. It's a protection of privacy thing. They tried telling the neighbors for a while and most of the time, the sex-offenders were attacked and harassed.

Sex offenders are required by law to register with the authorities when they move. Frequently you can go on line and look up sex offenders to find out where they are in your town. Just know that because they were convicted of a sexual offense does not mean they committed a crime against a child so it is best to find a website in your state that will allow you to see some information related to the offense so you are able to feel safe in your community.

The responsibility for notification does not rest with the offender.
What offenders catagory would pre dispose them to socially acceptable and community welfare thinking?
In most states no one is obligated to report the presence of a sex offender.
The dummies who make the laws and probtion rules assume that if little Johnny Right is doing all he is supposed to to follow the requirements of his parole, then no one is in danger.
BUNK!
The truth is that as little as forty percent of the released sex offenders are completely in compliance with their parole.
It is our responsibility to check the area reports or other resources on a vigilant basis to aquire whether or not there is a monster among us.
I mean, think about it, who would want to relinquish the safety of their precious children as a responsibility that someone else should insure?
Not me that is for sure.
The question of notification falls mute if you think of it from that point of view.
I know my children are safer with me as sentry rather than some overworked don't give a damn probation officer, or even one doing the best he can do, but still apt to miss someone who slips through the cracks.
It only takes one mistake on their part to cost a child her/his childhood, or worse yet, their life.

In my state (CT) no person will notify you if a intercourse criminal strikes into your community yet whilst he/she is a registered criminal than he/she would be in the Megan's regulation database (each state has a Megan's regulation database). i've got coated a hyperlink in the source checklist to a internet site which lists the certainty sheets for all 50 states and the District of Columbia on their Megan's regulation legislations. the certainty sheets additionally incorporate internet internet site handle for finding up offenders names in the state's database.
