It's funny that you like to twist the law around to benefit yourself and these criminals - Facts are facts - They broke the law.

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:

Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or

Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or

Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;
has committed a federal crime.

Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.

The law doesn't have any exceptions. If I don't have a house - can I break into someone elses a live there? If I don't have my own job or source of income - can I rob a bank and get away with it?

NO.

DUH! No wonder he couldn't come back. Hello - - he is an alien - not supposed to be here, and he overstayed. He SHOULD HAVE done the RIGHT thing and made sure he renewed it - Or applying for LEGAL citizenship right off the bat would cover it.

Of course the gov't doesn't give two sh*ts about YOUR wedding plans. You really think they care about that as much as they do about bomb threats or murders? Use your head.

Then why has the Federal Government not enforced the laws which were passed for our benefit....... When a Politician or the government does not follow through with its job....Why???? MONEY MONEY MONEY that is why.
The people are only asking to be recognized humanely as workers. I haven't heard them say we want to be citizens......Have you? Do you not find hypocrisy in the fact that for years upon years the Federal Government knew these workers were here and in essence allowed them to be here.....and now all of a sudden they are the most hated of the hated. Example: I have an 18 year old child and all of his life he had no curfew and no boundaries, and then overnight I try to control him. Neither one of the two plans above would be functional....They would be failures.

I can't speak for anyone else. I have never said that we should have an open border. I just strongly feel that the illegal aliens that are already hear should have a legal path available to them that would allow then to at least me permanent residents. Part of the process would be payment of a fine for being here illegally. There would be other fees for them to pay as part of the normal immigration process. Anyone applying for permanent residence also has to pass a criminal background check. Anyone who has been convicted of a felony is ineligible to stay.
I would put one limitation on the ones that do. I would make them ineligible to apply for citizenship while in this country. If they ever want to be a citizen they need to exit the country and then apply to reenter.

Can you jaywalk and get away with it? That's a crime too. I'm sure you've never done that though. Noboby here has, right? We are all law abiding citizens. Nobody has every padded the amount of contributions they gave when filling out a tax return. Nobody has run a red light.

Here's my arguement for illegal immigration: I have WALKED IN THOSE SHOES. I tried to get my fiance here LEGALLY through a fiance visa and because he commited the "CRIME" of overstaying his previous work visa he was not allowed to come back into the country. The government didn't care about our wedding plans or our home we had established. Do YOU think we should have abandoned our plans to marry and give up our future (which is now our beautiful life together) just because our government said he couldn't be here?! The entire time he was here previously he worked and PAID TAXES, and was a contributing member to our society, he never commited a crime and yet he was denied entrance to come back and marry me. So he came ILLEGALLY and though we had already paid THOUSANDS of $$ to try to get him here legally, after we married we AGAIN had to pay a fine because of the way he came into the country and then wait years to receive his greencard so we could travel and see his family.

The crimes we Americans commit are because we are LAZY and selfish, their "crime" of coming here by any means they can is because their families are STARVING TO DEATH and they are coming here as a matter of LIFE AND DEATH. It's a natural inborn survival instict placed in us by God above to do what we have to do to survive and prosper. Do you realize the they risk their very lives to come and many die cruel deaths in the journey. Perhaps that makes you happen to know - one less illegal to deal with. Until you GO THERE (and I have been there) and try to LIVE there don't preach to us how they have no right to be here.

You would be surprised I guess to know that I don't favor illegal immigration - I favor making it EASIER for the immigrants to come here. SCREEN THEM, DO A BACKGROUND CHECK, CHECK OUT THEIR HEALTH, DOCUMENT THEM, GIVE THEM A TAX ID#, MAKE THEM PAY TAXES AND CONTRIBUTE TO OUR GOVERNMENT.

WHY IS THAT SO COMPLICATED?!?!

The only thing they're going to tell you is that their needs give them the right. Too bad most pro-illegals don't understand the difference between wants and needs. The illegals want an easy life that they are not entitled to and the pro-illegals want the illegals (for marriage, cheap labor, etc.). It doesn't matter a bit to them who or how many people are being hurt by their selfish desires, as long as they get what they want and make us pay the bill for it. Oh yeah and don't forget that illegals have better family values than us and we are all racist for not wanting to support them in the manner that they have become accustomed to.

I am totaly against illegals. The way I see it, if they enter the US illegally, they start right off the bat being a criminal. Fact is they broke the law to get here. That being said, why would we trust them as employees, neighbors, customers, etc. if they have started out being shady. It may be difficult to get here legally but back in the day, immigrants coming to Ellis Island were excited to go through the channels to become a citizen and learn everything about being an American...including speaking the language!!!Illegals are convicts!

What don't they understand about, illegal is illegal? Deportation is the only way!

DEFINITION OF illegal alien according to U.S. Law:
“Illegal alien: Anyone in the US in violation of the law. The illegal
alien has intentionally chosen to violate the law and lacks the
evidence VISA that they have observed all US laws in entering and
remaining in the country.”
____________________________________________________

the rightful name - ILLEGAL ALIEN
____________________________________________________

The law: US Code Title 8, Chapter 12, subchapter I section 1101 &
subchapter II section 1325

Immigrant: an individual who has received permission to enter and
permanently reside in the US. The written permission document issued
by the US government to the immigrant after successfully completing
required health tests, financial checks, and criminal investigations
is called a visa.

Alien: an individual in the US who is not a US citizen. After
entering the US, the "immigrant" becomes an alien.

Illegal alien: Anyone in the US in violation of the law. The illegal
alien has intentionally chosen to violate the law and lacks the
evidence VISA that they have observed all US laws in entering and
remaining in the country.

Most illegal aliens enter via the US-Mexico border, either alone or
with a smuggler. Other illegal aliens entered the US legally under a
student, tourist or other temporary visa (promising to leave at the
end of their "visit") and chose to remain after their visa expired.
When the temporary visitor chose to "overstay" their visa, they
became an illegal alien. Their original "legal" entry doesn't give
them upgraded status from the more common illegal border-crosser.

Both are illegal aliens, both are violating US immigration laws, and
both are subject to deportation.

They don't have a valid reason, only excuses.

They should not get amnesty. A bank robber or a home invaders doesn't get amnesty.

The terrorists who were responsible for the 9/11 attacks should not have been here, either. Authorities were forewarned, yet ignored them. That is no justification for illegal entry by others. Because they caused many deaths and destruction is one reason we should NOT allow illegal immigrants to continually pour into the U.S. without STRICT screening.

why is it so hard for these "people" to get the concept of law? All of their answers are either incoherent hate or irrational appeals for pitty. If a boat is full and drowning people are in the water, do you let them in and sink the boat? According to SandraD and the rest of the pro-illegal morons... YES!

It is in fact true that illegals are... illegal. So are many other things which happen all the time. Like sodomy in Texas http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/docs/PE/content/htm/pe.005.00.000021.00.htm#21.06.00, or blasphemy in Massachusetts http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/272-36.htm .

Just because there is a law that says something is illegal, doesn't mean that that law is right. Many illegal aliens come to this country because they have no other choice - they could not make a living at all in their previous country. In addition, these immigrants have brought numerous benefits to our country.

Any discussion on immigration should involve rationally comparing the benefits and drawbacks of allowing these people to stay. It's really not disputable that they broke the law, but that doesn't mean that it's not "OKAY".

Many times I feel that people who are racist use this as an excuse for their bias. Did you know that there are many many illegals from Europe and Asia yet we only focus on our neighbors in South America? Why aren't we sending British illegals, Irish illegals, and Chinese illegals (who are still here even though their visa has expired)? I think this is just a way for people to pick on others.

With that said, no, I don't think there is any justification lawfully for this; however I do feel that people need compassion as well. For example, making the paper work and costs easier on people so it encourages those that do it lawfully. After all your ancestors probably came here with less paper work and less cost compared to today.

Its ignorant to just hate--you have to find a solution and compromise that will be lawful and compassionate. After all, America is the land of opportunity and freedom--it doesn't limit this to only American-born people.
