Tell your friend Congratulations!

Now for a boys room I think neutral colors would be good. Except Yellow. They say that yellow makes babies cry. White is a really good color because when they first come home for the first few weeks they can only see contrast colors like red, white & black. I think that if you go nuetral, (just white and taupes) then once the baby gets a bit older and starts to form his own personality there will be things he likes more than others. Like a specific stuffed animal or blanket, maybe even a toy or a bottle. And then you may decorate accordingly.
They have lots of baby items but we must realize that the first few weeks is really a bonding time for him and his parents. Then the next few weeks he will be getting more accustomed to his room.

heres my opinion and i have a little boy. we dont have a big amount of money but we had enough to give him a beautiful baby boys room at a very very affordable price. it took me three tries before i finally got it right that was the most costly of it all. i tried the tan walls and blah blah but finally we did this

white room from top to bottom that way it is bright, then i went to all the stores that sold baby bedding and the best place was kmart they had the brightest colored crib sets available we did the one with little cars and trains on it all in baby blues and bright greens and yellows they even had wall hanging to match the bedding and curtains all for under 60.00 thats GREAT! and they also had the letter blocks where you can spell out his name on the wall my sons name is dylan so for each letter i would paint one blue one yelloe one green etc, and put that on the wall. lets just say this was very soothing. for him and me everytime i walked in there.

as for the crib and changing table and dresser we bought that at walmart all three in one box for under 130.00 you would not believe how nice it is its light oak and beautiful. especially with the blues and then i went to the family dollar and bought calming candle scents ocean breezes and vanilla colors to match the room to sit on top of the dresser. and picture frames which i put pictures of him and our family in all over the room. its hard to find pictures for a young childs room...

and my last and final touch was nightlight he had 5 outlets in his room each ne veiwable so in the light department of walmart you will find nightlights they actaully had some beautiful diamond like nightlights that glow blue when plugged in so at night when he would go to be d he would feel safe in the beautiful blue lights,

thats just what i did and i must say ever since my little boy has slept much better at night. and i use a humidifier to give him a noise while he sleeps and cleans his air.

My mom just adopted and is doing his room in cartoon dinosaurs. It is really cute. She got the idea from a bib she got from WalMart. A mural maybe (she hasn't gotten far yet-no time) she said and bold colours, plus as he grows they can too. She is not doing everything in dino just a few bold dinos here and there and solids or stripes in matching primary colours.

I think that trains and cars are really a cute idea because even as he gets older he can still like those things. Or even Dinosaurs that is still a really big hit for boys. I also like Moon & Stars...

bold colors are best for stimulating the baby..and easier to see. I personally shy away from "character themes" it would need to be changed after a short time.. It would be fun to tie it in to the are a she lives in..boats...or mountains...tropical...
I also frame their announcement in a nice heirloom frame so he will always have it.

lots of pillows...soft cushy stuff...curtains...a sheer for during the day with a darker layer for nap time.
