Yesterday Mr. Cat (1-1/2 years old, neutered, short-haired male) saw the vet for his shots and check up. Today, there are huge clumps of his hair EVERYWHERE! Could this be from the stress of the vet, or the shots? He had distemper and rabies.

I'd try searching on the internet, but I have to vacuum - all this cat fur!!!!!!!!!!

When animals get stressed one of the first signs is fur everywhere! I work in a vet clinic and am constantly covered in it from nervous animals. It is natural. Just vaccuum it up and give your pet lots of attention. Vet visits are exceptionally stressful to cats as they like to stay home, hate car rides and strange places. Add being poked, prodded by a stranger and then the smells.... well it is a sure recipe for a fur party!

Hi it sounds like you cat is having a bad reaction to the shot, you need to contact you vet and ask some question's about the situation about the hair falling out, just make some phone calls and try to get the info that you need, and from there you can decide what to do,
good luck

yes.....believe it or not. My vet told me that the only way a cat can soothe him/her self, is by bathing (licking) When a cat is stressed, they bath...alot! I kid you not, when I went through my divorce, my cat (which really didn't like my ex...but) developed a loss of fur, his whole back end was fur-less.....I took him to the vet and he was depressed over the change within the home, the vet put him on valium.........now that was a funny site....LOL

I brush my 2 "kids" twice a week so they don't shed much at all. But when I take them for their yearly shots, you'd think I never brushed them their whole lives!! Fur is everywhere! So yes, stress does cause shedding. But aren't the little boogers worth it?!!

Yes. Cats are very sensitive creatures and stress can make them lose
hair, weight, reason for living, etc. He will recover. Give him extra loving
and try not to make any more changes in his environment for a while.

properly, some cats in simple terms shed alot. exceptionally breeds like the persian, himalayan and birman. I extremely have a birman cat and that i bathe him as quickly as each and every week and he's brushed two times an afternoon and he nevertheless sheds much. he's my first cat, and that i dont understand if cats are like canines the place they shed extra suitable mucho for the time of the summer season yet they may be. Having her groomed may be something to do. such as you have her cut back short. and groomers are used to concern for the explanation that no cats like water.
