As the Mom of a 5 month old, my fiance and I found that picnics in the park are a great, inexpensive date, our baby is too young to play but a 17 month old would probably enjoy the freedom, it's a great opportunity for you to get to know the child as well.

Usually, I am not this crass but how about the playground...lol!
At least she'd know that you have no problems with the fact that she has a baby. In fact, she'll see that you're interested in them both.

start with something simple like dinner or something. The zoo is ALWAYS awesome, or the park, or anywhere you can show her you're into her, and totally down with her kid as well.
