This happens to me all the time. I'll almost be asleep and then my whole body jerks and I'm wide awake. I have no idea why, but I am curious to see the answers...

Dreams, I expect -- not anything to worry about it. If you ever do fall out of bed, you may want to move the mattress to the floor.

I had a real life dream like that too once. I keep looking at my alarm clock and the clock said it was later then it really was. I woke up thinking it was 10 am when it was 8 am. Werid huh.

That happens to most people, in some form. For me, I feel like I fell and landed on my bed. It's your body's response to your nervous, circulatory, and respritory systems slowing down tremendously while you sleep. It's kind of your body's way of making sure your not dead.

I used to have those dreams as a kid, now I have lucid dreams and in some occassions Sleep paralysis.
