there is some whipping cream and an old container of 10% cream in the fridge. What would I do?

use that, maybe add a little mayo...i've done it before when out of milk; couldn't taste the difference, either...if its too much, though, better get in the car and go get some more milk :-)

i found a website for you to reference if this happens in the future...here is what it said about milk:
Milk, buttermilk 1 cup * 1 cup plain yogurt

Cream, half and half, canned milk, powdered milk, soy milk, rice milk can all be subsituted, but you may have to make other allowances in the recipe such as more water. I have even substituted sour cream in some recipes, though how that would turn out in macaroons, who knows.

Throw the old container of cream - it has gone off. If you insist on using milk then buy some more.

Knock on the neighbours door and borrow some milk or go to the store and buy some milk.

water down the cream, melted icecream or use coffee creamer like have had to do in the past, neighbors are good also.

use the thinner of the two creams and dilute with water to milk consistency....don't over dilute.
