If I do sit-ups every night or maybe twice a day, can that really help tone my stomach? If yes, how many should I do?

Only if you are doing cardio also and lose the layer of fat on top of them. If you are already super skinny in the midrif then yes it will work♥

Just gonna say this - you are going to get a bunch of answers that are complete myths. I am a certified personal trainer and a professional body builder. These are the facts: 1) You cannot "tone" a muscle. You can make it bigger or smaller. 2) Abs are made in the kitchen. You could do 1000 situps and still not have visible abs. Lose some bodyfat and you'll see them. 3) In saying that, you cannot spot reduce (ie remove fat from stomach intentionally) without surgery. By all means do some situps at night if you wish, you'll certainly get stronger abs, but don't expect a visible 6 pack or "toned" stomach without cutting down your body fat %

it will only tone the upper part of ur stomach. you have to do crunches too to tone the lower part of ur abdomen. Don't believe the stars that claim they do 300 sit ups a day. it is very tiring and it won't have that much of an effect. Approx 3 sets of 30 every day should be able to help you get that toned tummy.

Yes, doing crunches or sit-ups will tone the abs. Don't forget to hit the obliques, the part of the abs running along your sides, by doing twists or crunches to the side. To do the side crunches lay on your back bringing your knees to a 90 degree angle then laying them both to one side. From here raise up as far as you can go by raising from the waist. Then switch side. As for how many to do, do as many as you can then 10 more. That will tone them but the only way to show them off is to reduce the body fat around them.

Sit ups work the upper abs, but not as effectively as people think. And, it can cause lower back strain. You should do leg lifts, crunches and scissor kicks. Also, if you can get to a pool, ask an aquatic exercise instructor about things you can do. Of course, then you have to deal with that whole girl thing - wet hair, swimming suit, etc. . . . .

No, get an Ab Lounge! You can always find exercise equipment for cheap at yard sales or the classified ads! I have one I got for $25.00 and I like it!

If you want your abs to show, do sprints not sit-ups. It's more fat covering them than their lack of size.

You won't see any results over night, but if you keep at it, then in time you will see results.
