I am eating muesli which contains whey powder. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Whey is the fluid left after cheesemaking. After clotting the fluid is separated from the curd, and is whey.
Dried whey is called whey powder. It's basically a cheap waste product used widely as a filler in our foods.

Whey is derived from the cheese making process. A curding enzyme and/or astringent makes curds from milk, and the leftover watery substance is whey. Milk will also curdle naturally.

Litttle Miss Muffett....the "curds and whey" mentioned is basically cottage cheese. Curds are the chunks, whey is the liquid.

Personally I prefer Ricotta, but then only if it is lasagna....
