I've heard that koolaid or beet juice can get this result. My hair is naturally dark blonde, but it is highlighted very light blonde right now.

Koolaid will work and is actually permanent (it will fade a little though but until it grows out it will be there so be careful). When I was in high school I died a chunk of my hair red with koolaid and so did some of my friends and we got in so much trouble (Catholic School haha)
Just boil the koolaid and make sure you use the least amount of water possible. Then you have to hold the hair in it for about ten minutes. Voila!

Koolaid works very well. Make is with just a little water - and no sugar of course.
