and if so what type of schooling and for how long?????

In most places, you're going to need a high school diploma to join the police force, and go to the police academy. The length of time for academy is going to differ place to place, but I don't think it's longer than a year. As to becoming K-9, it's likely something you apply for, and are then trained. I'm sure your local unit would answer any questions you had. Good luck.

Yes you have to have schooling. You can go to college for Criminal Justice or go to the police academy. The K9 part of it, you go to a training. It's like 8 weeks or something like that. And you are a qualified K9 officer.

Ideally you should have a degree or you'll get stuck being a glorified security guard. You can get a bachelor's or 2 year degree.
