I am getting married next summer and would like to know of some great honeymoons suggestions. I don't want to spend way too much (eliminating those that suggest Paris etc.). I live in Canada, so I'm looking for travel ideas from there.

The Hamptons in New York. The beach is just perfect for your summer honeymoon. Lots of great hotels there for honeymooners.

Well I will tell you from experiance that I just went on my honeymoon and it was awsome. If you can the money to travel a little ways you can come to Panama City Beach in Florida. And stay at the Paradise found hotel. Being that you are getting married in the summer you will find that there are alot of people there and you will notice that everything that is kinda "pricey". Here is the catch if you go in the early fall it is considered to be "off season" and all the hotel prices and attractions fall by almost fifty percent. You will be on the ocean and when you wake up in the morning and all you see is beach and water for as far as you can see is freakin' awsome. Try it out. Do some research and find what you are looking for in the hotel there is like a million choices. Good luck and congrats.

Don't know where you live, but I would look for the the least expensive direct flights from your main airport and see if any seem like a good honeymoon destination. Or consider somewhere within driving distance, since airfare can eat up a huge percentage of your honeymoon budget. Another way is to open a United Visa card (or other mileage program) and charge everything you can between now and the wedding (including wedding expenses!) to get the miles.

You can also check out the most popular honeymoon destinations at http://www.honeyfund.com/Destinations and see if any seem reasonable from your spot. There's a whole page of US destinations that might be fun. The Florida Keys are tropical but don't require overseas flights.

Good luck!

My fiance and i put honeymoon planning off until two weeks before the wedding as we were so overwhelmed with the wedding planning. I don't recommend doing that! But we ended up getting a great honeymoon package getaway to Maui, Hawaii and it included rental car, hotel and air fare. We were among the last few to book tickets, but the price was great and the hotel was beautiful...we had a relaxing (which was very much needed) and romantic time. There is so much to do on Maui and it's not as crazy as Oahu gets. We went snorkeling, lounged on the beach, attended a luau, drove around the island, took a sunset cocktail cruise and ate great food. The package included free buffet breakfast every morning (delicious) and a champagne and chocolate gift that they put in our room our first night there! We booked it through Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays. Good luck!

Since you are gettin married in the summer the weather will be nice for you to be able to do anything outdoors so what I would suggest would be renting a nice hotel room near a amusement park and other fun things. During the day go to the amusement park, the zoo. waterpark, or anywhere else fun. Then have a wonderful romantic dinner at a nice restraung and them go back to your hotel room and spend a nice evening together. That way you both have fun but yet you still have the romance and its not gonna cost a fortune.

Please come & enjoy your honeymoon here in Malaysia... I'd recommend you to come & visit the Perhentian Island (the locals called it Pulau Perhentian)...

On the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu's rich traditional culture, largely intact and in tandem with the modern world, makes this the most charming Malaysian state.

Well-known for handicrafts, and a laid-back approach to life, Terengganu has always attracted long-term tourists. Some even stay for weeks, refining their batik-painting techniques or exploring traditional dance forms.

Or try one of the exceptional resorts such as the Tanjung Jara Resort or the Aryani Resort - both have exceptional services and facilities.

::Perhentian Island::

Perhentian means ‘stopover' in Malay. But, you may need more than a stopover on this pair of captivating islands. Some 21km off the coast of Terengganu, it comprises the islands of Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil.

Covered by virgin jungle, powdery white beaches and surrounded by sapphire-blue waters, the island is made for idyllic holidays.

Or you can also come to Pangkor Laut which is an exclusive private island resort including hillside bungalows, over-water bungalows and a village of private suites with own pools and spa area. Pangkor Laut has a guest list which includes Pavarotti and Joan Collins.

I went on a cruise. It was great because they treat you like royalty and bring you breakfast in bed, etc.. You don't have to worry about travelling from one place to the next, you can sleep all day if you want. It's very relaxing, which is exactly what you need after crazy wedding planning.
Most cruise boats have stuff to entertain just about anyone. If you like to dance, or see shows, or shop, or eat, or dress up for a fancy dinner, or wear flip flops all day long.
Some have spas which are great.
You can get a good cruise for less than $1000(US)/person easy.

As for where you go is up to you. There are so many beautiful places to travel but they can be expensive. One way to be able to take your dream honeymoon is for your guests to give you a trip on a honeymoon registry. Its totally free for you to use and you can take your honeymoon any time you want. I have a website that can help with all the plans you want to make. Just go to my website listed below, click on Honeymoon Registry, find your dream honeymoon destination (choices worldwide), then set up your page and send a notice to your guests. It even offers cards you can print out and mail to the guests free of charge. congratulations on your wedding and enjoy your honeymoon.

I think that Niagara Falls is a great place to go on a honeymoon! If you're into beaches and stuff Hawaii would be awesome too but could be very pricey. When our daughter passed away my fiance and I went to Niagara Falls just to get away for a bit and I absolutely loved it.
