It's sad that so many people feel they're competing for jobs with a Mexican lettuce picker, or a Mexican janitor, or a Mexican waiter. If you feel you're better than a Mexican, then you wouldn't feel competitive with them.

They are not ALL illiterate. Many come here and go straight into manufacturing, carpentry, road crews, janitorial, sales, etc. These never started in the fields where the illiterate and low skilled work. There are many reasons an American didn't get a higher education. That is irrelevant to the issue. Illegal immigrants should not be in the U.S. taking jobs from ANY legal person here no matter WHAT their educational level.

I dont have to compete with them. They couldnt get my job if they are illiterate. Also they have been to the company I work for and searched records and deported the illegals. My self esteem is in good shape. I still have my job and the illegals are gone so other legals citizens now have a job.

I do not compete with illegals. I will be able to go to college and get a real (self supporting) job, while illegals will refuse to work because they think they are too good and that it is their country anyway. THAT'S the problem, when criminals arrogantly run into our country, refuse to do anything, and expect us to pay for them- on top of learning Spanish so they can get what they want.

If you are competing with an illiterate anything, illegal Mexican or otherwise, then you have not had enough education. So why should it hurt your self-esteem if you set your goals that low?
Stay in school.
And if you drop out, go back to school.

No, the only reason employers USE these illiterate illegals,is because the illegals are too STUPID to demand more money! Or maybe their 'work' is not even worth more pay!

NO, but it is a shame upon our country, to make our citizens compete with criminals(illegal aliens) who come here to steal and break our laws... and also an act of treason to be betrayed by those who employ these illegal alien criminals.... ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS are CRIMINALS.... stealing from OUR society and Country/Nation..... along with destroying and defacing our communities with trash and graffiti, murdering our citizens, burdening our schools and healthcare, driving without insurance or driver's license.... IT CAN ALL BE LABELED STEALING.... Their presence here is ILLEGAL, a CRIME.... It is also an act of treason by the past several Congresses and Presidents... that they have refused to take action to put a stop to this INVASION of ILLEGAL ALIENS.....

Only when I dont get a job because I am not Bilingual and on that subject many people have said why is it that Americans are too lazy to learn another language and its good to have a multilingual background, Well I agree that its cool to know different languages but We are not the lazy ones People that come to America, want to be American, but dont want to learn the American language is lazy! We would learn the language if we moved to or lived in another country but we dont, we live here where English has and always will be the language Americans speak!

It ticks me off that there are illegals with only elementary school educations who are making more an hour than me doing construction jobs when I have a batchelor´s degree.
