Life and love are all about taking risks and everything runs the possibility of not working out the way that we want to. Does that mean we should throw in the towel and claim it was the best that we could do? or should we continue trying and take any pain or let downs along the way and try to take a lesson from them. If you don't keep putting yourself out there, how do you ever expect to find the right person who will make you happy and give you the love and respect that you deserve? I think being hurt a thousand times is worth it if it results in my finding someone that I can share my life with and who makes my life better by simply being a part of it...I'm sorry to hear that you don't get the same support and respect that you give out to others but perhaps they will come around or someone will come along that will recognize how caring you are and be selfless enough to give that back to you too...

I feel that way about meeting new friends. I don't want to start caring about them because as soon as I do, they end up hurting me, stabbing me in the back, etc. I am tired of everyone, I just want to go home from work everyday and crawl in bed and watch movies with my little dog Bunny. Does that really make me a bad person? Not wanting to interact with anyone anymore. That is what people keep telling me anyways.

Try not putting your heart out there.. it will keep it from being burned. Instead, just follow the burning sensation that a couple of cocktails and coy glances brings next time you're washing away those feelings of sorrow at the local pub.
Find 'em, fluck 'em, and flee !!

Ummm, I think we all feel like that at some point. I hope you pull through it and realize that you have many friends on here that do care and would and will be there for ya. Cowgirl up! (whatever the hell that means..lol ) Maybe a stiff martini would help?

It's never happened to me... lol...
**But Karen, hon.. when you play with fire... you're gonna get "burned"...
You just need to find someone like ...um... HughG... He's not all that cute, but He's pure and sincere, and actually quite inexperienced.... so you've got the advantage there also... you can mold Him into exactly what you are looking for...

yes it happens but you have to look at it this way, when you give something don't expect something in return and then you wont feel this way, and don't depend on anyone else for anything
