If this is a new notebook chances are it has a wireless card already installed. You may want to check to make sure. The way I get wireless is like this - I have Internet through my cable company, I then purchased a wireless modem. What you do in this case is hook the wireless modem to the cable modem that was give to me by the cable company. My notebook then detects the network and i can connect to it. Also if you go some where (coffe shop etc) that offers wireless you can connect to their network. Hope this helps.

If it not have a wireless inside you will need to buy a wireless card and slide into the Card slot on the side. Read instructions, mine I had to load the software then plug in the card. Also, you will need a Wireless Router, it have software too but mine was not necessary to load as the card found it and everything work fine. I use my Router as a Hot Spot and my neighbors can use it. They give me $10 a month. Two neighbors that are close enough so, I make $20 a month to help with my expense.

You really didn't give us enough info. I am assuming that you have built in wi-fi capability (if not, you will need a wireless network adapter first; you have your choice of a pcim card or a USB apdapter. The other obvious thing is that you need a wireless network.

If you have the correct hardware, you can just go to the start menu click on "connect me." XP will show you all of the available networks. Pick the one you want to sign on to and you should be connected.

If the above doesn't work, there is sonething wrong with the network.
