My husband is stationed at MCAS Beaufort. The word as of now, is that we are not in the mindset of war with Korea. 5 Separate sources, as of my last convo with my husband this morning, said it WAS NOT nuclear, the South Koreans are the ones saying it was. I think it is a personal choice whether or not to come back. I do hope if you volunteer you get to go back in the same MOS, thats not likely right now. They have closed an enormous amount of boat spaces, and even lat moving is hard, even in the hot zones like my husband in EOD, or even Intel.
My brother was out for 2 weeks, and was called back to Pendelton, and went to Iraq. I think the fact that you asked, you just want someone to tell you to go back. I am sure its something that you have been going back and forth with in your mind, and you need someone to tell you its ok to go back.
But, if you do it based on Korea, you would be jumping the gun.
Choose what is best for you, and what you want.
I follow the 10-10-10 rule. Ask yourself, in 10 weeks, months, and years, will this matter??

Good Luck

Are you just inactive or have you been officially discharged? My husband went inactive just a few months before 9/11 happened. We felt with the types of specializations he had that it would be inevitable for him to be called back up as well, but he never was. However our troops are more widespread now so it may be more likely for them to recall you. If you go voluntarily you probably will be able to decide what you want to do. You just have to do a little soul searching and decide. Best of luck. Semper Fi.

How many years in do you have? I am assuming 4 since you are worried about being recalled out of inactive reserves. There are many variables. Do you have a wife? If so, she should get more say than anyone on here. If your single, why not re-enlist to get the MOS you want?

I really don't think we're going to war korea, they have china behind them and have no oil. I think you'll get called back to Iraq or afghanistan first. As for reupping, I think with the election coming up and GOP afraid of losing everyhting in 2 more years, you are safe.

Who could answer that better than you? You are the only person that knows how you really feel. Talk with your family and get their views, but the decision is up to you.
Good luck.
God bless.
And thank you.

Its up to you? Are you in your inactive portion now, or have you fulfilled your entire commitment. Marines are first in. They can and will re-direct you if necessary. Best of luck marine.
