Take him to the vet, follow the vet's advice and give him the medication that the vet gives you

Kennel Cough is a self limiting disease, much like a human cold. Most otherwise healthy dogs will get over it in a couple of weeks with no treatment at all.
There is a dog flu going around that starts out like Kennel Cough. If the dog is not getting better, be sure an go to the vet.

Its all very well dispensing advice, but we don't know how experienced people are. Someone who has to ask what to do for kennel cough should be talking to a vet, not well meaning people on the internet.
Kennel cough can be serious for puppies, so take your pup to a vet. Plus do you know for sure its kennel cough, and not something stuck in her throat?
Go to the vet.

Apart from going to the vets give the dog some childrens benylin. Seriously, i work at a vets and it does work, just make sure it is a non drowsy formula.

Another good tip is to boil water and melt some honey in it and give a little to your dog. It is great for soothing sore throats ( just look at the number of honey and lemon prducts for bad throats...) and offer a little of this.

Remember, to keep your dog away from others and look into the kennel cough vaccination (nobivac) if your dog is likely to go into kennels. Like the yearly booster you just get it done at the same time every year and they are covered. It's not even an injection but a spray up the nose.

Hope the poor thing feels better

My dog had kennel cough a couple months ago, and the vet said that there is no 'cure' for it...it just goes away. We had to wait it out and keep our dog away from any other animals until the cough seemed to have subsided. For a comparison, it's just like a human getting a head cold - a pain in the butt but nothing serious.

If you are sure that this is kennel cough, take it to the vets immediately. Do not let your puppy come into contact with other dogs as this will spread.

Hi when i went on a trip , i left my dog boarding at my vet , when i pick him up and reach home i notice that he had a choking kind of cough, i didn't know what is was ,so i carried hem back to the vet about a couple days after, they told me that he had kennel cough, and they also told me that kennel cough is contagious so if you have more dogs or cats around please try to keep them apart,so that your other animals wont catch it, also they told me to give him ;1-1.5cc children's Robitussin 3-4 times daily for cough.try it and if you don't see any improvement in about 2-3 days then you will have to carry you puppy to the vet.
good luck

Regarding one of the above answers, some yahoo bloggers are experience kennel hands, though. Kennel cough is only an inconvenience. Treat it just like a cold, with plenty of liquids. Vets will prescribe antibiotics which, over time, will allow the pathogen to build a tolerance. Best leave vet visits to more important issues.

P.S. Give your pup an extra stroke from me.

Hi,
Our dogs always used to come down with Kennel cough, not long after we had shown them maybe a week or so.We had anti biotics from the vets.We give them children's benilynn cough mixture now. There are some serious strains of kennel cough which can be fatal to older dogs and very young pups.If you are worried consult your vet.

Well it is a bit late now to tell you that it needs to be innoculated. Kennel cough is serious and puppies can die from it. You need to call the vet right away.
