I am a 22/m/white. I am a sr in college grad in may and we are having a career fair next week at school and I will be interviewing for jobs. I was wanting to know, is it ok to wear small round gold ball studs? I want to look professional, but my earrings are a part of me. I normally wear square diamond studs but I know that is too much. I was wondering about the small ball studs. I am a psych major and want to be a juve delinq counselor. Many people have told me that employeers are ok with guys wearing earrings as long as they are subtle like the ones I am talking about. I wasn't sure. I don't think it should be that big of a deal. I have a professional, mature look. However, I like to be myself and express myself as well. A job isn't your identity. What do you think?? I am torn because I am not sure if the small ball studs are too much. I don't think so, but that's me. I try to keep them in 24/7 so that my right ear lobe doesn't close. I have some problems with it growing up fast.

WEAR THEM its who you are. I work for Cingular Wireless and they don't care they see it as who you are, and that is something you need to be proud of. my first day someone asked if you needed to cover up tattoo's the trainer looked at them like "are you nuts" she said we want you to be you and your tattoo is on your skin and you need to be happy with the skin your in. so if i wear you wear it. i wouldn't go in there with long pirate earring's though or something ridiculous but your small gold ball should be fine, if not they will tell you

The lobes won't close in the short time it takes to conduct an interview.
Don't wear any earrings to talk to prospective employers. A lot of people that do the interviews are senior staff members, so they tend to be a bit older. You don't know how conservative they will be, or the dress code of the job. During the interview, you can always ask about the dress code, and specifically what type of men's jewelry and accessories are allowed. It never hurts to play it safe and wait to wear it until you know for sure from your boss if earrings are acceptable.

it's best to be as professional as possible when interviewing, which means take the earrings out. after you land a job and are comfortably employed start with the small gold studs. you will be able to gain your own sense of style at work once you get your foot in the door.

I would leave them out for interviews..if and when you get a job and feel happy and confident in the job then start to wear them...your ear wont heal over in the space of a few hours at an interview or work.

"Expressing yourself" can and should wait till after work. You are there to do the job, not show who you are. You can do that with your mates after work. Carry the earrings in your wallet or whatever and put them on in the car after if you can't stand it. I really don't think I would hire someone wearing them for a professional position, and most professional offices have dress codes that limit what jewelry can be worn.
