Why is it done, then? By all religions that accept this commandment?

I know, poki poki, that people murder animals all the time. But my question is, why? Why do people have to be canibals and slaughter the companions that the Deity so graciously provided for us just so we can eat some flesh? Are we humans that bloodthirsty that we have to rip the life out of something and eat the corpse, just so that we can feel we are healthy?

If you are quoting the Bible, then It means not to kill for no cause, or do not murder. Unfortunatly the KJV and a few others use the wrong English word when translating the Hebrew.
Now, with that out of the way-you need help.

I don't go to links like that. It looked like a cow before I clicked off, so apparently you are talking about slaughtering animals. The commandment was not to murder people. Yet the Biblical God had them slaughtered all the time. Animals are food. Get over it.

First of all, the commandment in the OT says "you shall not murder." The difference should be apparent, given that the Hebrews engaged in many offensive wars and their law prescribed the death penalty for various offenses.
Some people kill in self-defense. Some people kill because they are poor and oppressed, and violence seems to be the only solution (and often it is). Some people kill because they hate anyone different from themselves. There are lots of reasons -- mostly socioeconomic.

You might be told not to have a cookie before dinner, but you still do! Killing is the same thing only on a bigger scale. No one believes that people should kill other people. Most murderers aren't in their right mind anyways, or they are on drugs!

I know the Christian view on it is that God incited war before, so war is different than just killing. That is how my mother explains it to me. I don't agree, though. I think killing is killing and begats nothing but more killing. I also see how Jesus gave a NEW covenant and said "turn the other cheek" and "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." People justify it, but you can justify anything if you twist Scripture just right.

Because the bible also says basically, thou shalt kill. There are about 60 reasons to do so, and sometimes just b/c god says so.

Dont use the Bible as a standard of laws. The Bible will support any side of an arguement.
