My sister is getting marries and she and her fiancee are pthinking about eloping to Tuscany. I will be attending along with the grooms brother. I think it's a great idea, but won't it be expensive? I am not trying to be nosy, but I want to offer helpful advice. Are there ways to save when marrying abroad?

Yes, it is a good idea, and most likely won't be any more expensive then having a wedding in the states where a lot of people would come. I think it sounds terribly romantic! My fiance and I are honeymooning in Italy. =) As far as saving money, she needs to get on the internet and look for good deals now instead of waiting till she gets there. Also I have come across a website before about marrying in Italy. I don't know if any of these locations is what she is looking for but they come in packages which usually saves money.

First, they are not eloping because they are planning it. That isn't eloping, that's planning a destination wedding.

Next, yes it is expensive. More than likely, you will be expected to buy your own plane ticket and pay for your own hotel room. This is the way most destination weddings are done. Better start saving!

If they are being very nice and are paying for these things for you, then they will be spending a lot. But depending on how many people go, they're still saving a bundle.

Any elopement must be considered seriously. Think about what you will be giving up. Think about how your parents/family might feel. We see many couples who later feel remorseful about not having the white dress and all of the fancy acoutraments. Make sure that your sister has considered all of this.
Remind her that she must pay the lodging for her attendants.

Sounds beautiful to me. Is she payiing your way? I would not count on that unless she said so when she asked you to come.

If that is what she wants and can afford it- why not??
They will remember it forever.
