I've been wondering that. Because strictly speaking their could be evolution and God. As far as i know Evolution doesn't explain the beginning of the universe and if it did that wouldn't make much sense. Something has to get the ball rolling. I guess that is where the big bang comes in?? But even that couldn't happen on its own.

Absolutely not. I am an atheist but my husband is not. We both believe in evolution. Our beliefs only differ in that he believes a God started the Universe with the Big Bang, and I do not.

Concerning the debate going on about intelligent design and evolution: is it possible that the final answer about which of these two seemingly opposite ideas is correct could simply be yes?

With one position firmly held by the believers and the other just as fearlessly defended by the non-believers, if you happen to be in a position somewhere near the middle, it does not look all that complex. From this position, you wonder why either-or has to be the answer.

If you believe that some higher being created the universe by intelligent design, what more elegant and intelligent design could there have been than a self-regulating system that continually checks its own errors and makes its own corrections in mid-stream as an integral part of the process.

This all seems quite logical to me although it probably won’t satisfy the believers because they are afraid to see any truth other than the one they have been told to believe in. Inversely it certainly won’t satisfy the non-believers because it leaves them stuck with a god that they are so obviously terrified of.

To sum up this view from the center, it might be most easily be explained by saying perhaps the designer was intelligent. Problem is, the designer was likely so intelligent that those seeking to prove that it is intelligently designed may be incapable of ever understand it well enough to see it for the elegant self regulating design that it has always been.

The nonbelievers will be similarly handicapped due to the internal terror the have about the idea that there may be a God. Neither side being able to leave their entrenched position for fear they may have to admit they were wrong. While the rest of us stand by trying to figure out what all the fuss is about. Personally I don’t think anyone is wrong, I just feel both sides are about half right.

Evolution has some truth yet has error also. It is a theory. So, why don't you meditate on Genesis 1. Get a Strongs Exhaustive with the Hebrew dictionary of the words. Then you can see what you can believe about the theory of evolution or big bang. Read Genesis out loud. Memorize it. There are a lot of hidden secrets about creation in it.

Also, we are made in God's image (body, soul & spirit). God is not the monkey spirit. A slight problem with evolving from a monkey. It is just wrong.

I also think there is truth & error in the "intelligent design theory also." In teaching evolution the children need to understand that it is just a theory and that some believe we aren't just an accident that God created us on purpose.

Tough Question.

first
bible says .... and the evening and the morning were the first day
tehn it says the same for all the other 7 days. to to say that God is taking a thousand years for a day just makes no sense to me.

It's all about how you believe. You want to believe that God is all powerful but deny him the ability to create the world in 7 days. To me, this sounds contradictory.

You want to say you are a Christian. One of the first questions, analytacaly, that comes to mind is....
"What do you base your belief system on"
The Bible?
Well, but you say it is not all true. how do you know what to take out and what to believe?
Shall we remove items because they make no sense to us? Well, that speaks against faith.
Shall we remove Items because they they are not advantagous to you? That does not sound very right either.

This is how I believe. I believe the the almighty God wanted us to have this information. I believe that even though MAN wrote it, he divinely (i mean he is almighty, right?) made sure it was written correctly and that we have the correct message today.

Back to the Evolution question. Look up carbon dating and look for problems with it and other dating methods. A lot of the results from the dating methods could be skewed by a world wide flood.

Jesus says that to be friends with the world means to be enemies with God. this is because this is the enemy's domain and He tries everything he can to distract us from God and to discredit what he can.

Remember, evolution is just a theory. There is no proof of such.

Be careful, I think it is spiritually unhealthy to pick and choose what you believe in the Bible. Once yu say one part is incorrect, you then can say any part is incorrect. Then you have a belief system sitting on shifting sands of a beach as opposed to a well fortified rock

I believe in evolution and in God, so how about that, lol. No, the Genesis account, if you read it in Hebrew, is the only account in Genesis that is written in poetical form.

I see lots of evidence for evolution, but I see no evidence that proves that there is NOT a God. In fact, with all the order in the world, I believe someone had to set it all in motion. So what if God chose evolution to create the world?

You would be a believer in the "intelligent design" theory.
Basically the theory states that there is/was a god who designed and created the universe, which has ever since evolved through evolution.
A designing god, who used evolution as a creative instrument.

You can believe in God and believe in evolution. The Book of Genesis is not meant to be a science book. It is meant to teach spiritual truths. Read Genesis chapter one and two - there are two different creation stories. Obviously they cannot both be literally true.

Pope John Paul II taught that evolution was a scientific answer and should be studied and taught in the scientific realm. It is not a religious issue.

Yes, you can believe in both. I do. I believe the Deity created the Universe, set the physical laws in place that govern in, and evolution happened to be one of those laws.

I'm Deist, and nothing in Deism teaches that you can't believe in Evolution!

No. The Bible says God created the world in 7 days and that God does things in His own time. Just because a day for us is 24 hrs, doesn't mean that God's day is 24 hours - it could be a millenia.

There are millions of xians that believe in evolution. Catholics for one.
The only conflict is whether the bible is completely inerrant. Some xians say yes, some say no.
