I once had the 'Litter-maid' and at first it was really neat I thought, cool I don't have to clean a box anymore! And I was sort of right, except that you do have to empty the plastic container when it gets full (they get expensive to replace). Then not to get gross but we are talking litter here, but sometimes the box would not seal and it would start to smell, the grate would get kind of gunk-ed up and you would have to clean it too. All in all it was OK (yes they work) but in the end I got rid of it and went back to just cleaning a cat box with a scoop everyday and it doesn't seem to be any more trouble. By the way it doesn't make any difference to the cats, but you know how they are anyway!

We have a few Littermaids. They work well for adult cats, but not for kittens. They are also no good for more than 2 cats at a time - they become clogged. Perfect for one or two.
One word of advice with this particular brand. The smaller ones work great. The Mega ones, have the same motor and cannot quite cut it. Stick with the smaller one.

Yeah, they work, but the only thing is having enough supply of the poop bins that you need to refill every day! It can get expensive, gosh mine sits in the garage empty, while the cats still poopy in two regular litter boxes! I did waste my money with this product...if you have the budget I say get it, otherwise dont bother! Good luck!

My ex-husband bought me one for Christmas a few years ago
(I was so mad, what thought.) Anyway, It scared the cats at first then they used it. It was great at first then the novelty ran out and you had to clean it just as often. And the mess would stick to the rake arm. Ooohh. Well now my ex has my christmas gift and the cats so I am sure it's just a litter box now.

I have used the Littermaid product, it worked really well, my biggest problem was that my biggest cat urinated on the power control button and shorted out the unit, not once but twice. so needless to say, it became a problem and i switched back to the old style covered litter tray. good luck.

Yes - they are great . it works you dont have to scoop up everyday, touch the stuff or anything .plus you can get a tent cover so you dont have to look at the box or you have guest over .if you get one remember to tape the lid of the plastic pail that collects the poo to the cover so it wont fall in the pail- works for me .im never going back to the old litter box.

My mother had a pair of them and said that she should have saved her money. According to her, the scooper missed the catch-tray more times than not. And the tines on the scooper were too large to catch all of the chunks so she would have to scoop it herself.

My sister has one and swears by it, but my fiance bought one and it broke before the week was over, and they wouldn't give him any sort of refund.
I think it's a hit-or-miss kinda thing.
The refills for it are pretty expensive, though.

They work, but can actually smell more unless you change to compartment daily. Most cats do not like them. Once they hear the noise it scares them and they don't want to go back to it.
