Two years ago we celebrated a friend's 50th bthday in New York, we attended the TRATTORIA DELLARTE and MITALI Indian Cuisine Restaurant. It was nice, but this time I'm thinking about a steakhouse. I'm from Mexico City and will celebrate in New York with my friends and family from Mexico. There will be some kids and couples. Where do you recommend for such a celebration?

I would recommend a Spirit Cruise. It is a true NY experience to enjoy a gourmet meal, listen to good music with Dancing and enjoy breathtaking views of the city. A lot of New Yorkers have never done this. It is family friendly..

If you want the best steak, go to Peter Luger Steakhouse

Del Frisco's has amazing steak! You will bot be disappointed. We actually celebrated my father's 60th Birthday there with the family. There was about 40 of us all together. They were very accommodating as well for such a large group with kids and all.

I do not agree about the Spirit Cruise Line. It is SOOOO touristy, and the food is mediocre. Peter Luger's is overrated, and not worth the trip out of Manhattan. The service is terrible as well.

Happy Birthday!

Peter Luger in the best steakhouse, period. However, it is in Brooklyn (though an easy cab from Manahattan). The Strip House is great, hipper than most steakhouses (Greenwich Village). In midtown I like Del Frisco's and Spark's.
