On monday some kid said I had sideburns. The problem is... I'm a girl! What the hell? Should I join a freak show? I dont' have a beard or hair on my cheeks...but I don't know. What is normal for hair? I have long hair, and some of it seems to be near my forhead... am I a wearwolf? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
Btw I'm thirteen years old.

Kids are cruel!

Listen honey... only guys get side burns. That is the hair that grows on the side of the face in front of the ears. now they show up more when guys shave them and they grow back.. as all hair does.

What this kid is probably talking about is the thin whispy hair that (all) girls have in the same place its just not as noticable. if you have long hair, then you have just let them grow naturally.

believe me you are perfectly normal sweetie. dont let stup[id ignorant comments like that get you down

xxxxx

Sideburns are just hair that grows on the sides of your face in front of your ears. Everyone has hair there, some more than others, but it's not abnormal. We are born with all of our hair follicles in place. A certain number of follicles are predetermined to produce long, thick, pigmented hair like normal scalp and eyebrow hair. These are called TERMINAL HAIR. Others are predetermined to produce short, fine, nonpigmented hair. These are called VELLUS hair or LANUGO. Vellus hair cover most of the body, including the head, and is often not visible to the naked eye. It all depends on genetics also, so if some family members are hairy then you are likely to have these same characteristics. Keep in mind that we as humans have hair everywhere on our bodies (except for some instances i.e. cancer, alopecia) besides our eyelids, lips, palms of hands and bottom of feet. Except and Love yourself! We are all individuals and if we don't embrace the way God made us, then who will.

Hope this helps.

You are worrying somewhat too much.
Sideburns are hair growing down the cheek in front of the ear.
No one ever died from them.
Spend your time plotting to snare yourself a squeeze, and let all that go.
'Kay?

Sideburns are the bits of hair that grow forward of your ears, also known as bangs.

Side burns are hair extension in front of the hair. A female's hairline usually ends just close at the top of the ear and after the forehead ends, as they dont have beard but some females with more facial hair might have their hairline a little extended.

I'm with Emma B on this one.

Try to relax and ignore it. You don't have side burns. Many girls have a little facial hair, some choice to remove it in later years, many do not.

I wouldn't advise experimenting with removing it, it could encourage growth.
