Looks like there are some good, ethical breeders in Maine and NY.

These people may be able to refer you to someone closer to your area. It's very important to buy a large breed puppy (or any puppy, actually) from a responsible breeder -- in this case, someone who tests for hip/elbow problems, as well as heart problems, and understands the nutritional and care needs of a large breed dog.

There are over 500 St. Bernards listed that need good homes.

Adotping older dogs can very rewarding as they usually are fixed, housebroken and may have been socialized.
